Placerville Speedway is a 1/4 mile dirt track [3] located in Placerville at the El Dorado County fairgrounds [1] in the Sierra Nevada foothills of eastern California.

History

The track began in 1965 as Hangtown Speedway. [4]

On November 20, 2019, the speedway held the Elk Grove Ford Hangtown 100, a 100-lap, $20,000-to-win USAC National Midget Series race which was won by Kyle Larson. [3] It was the first time that the National Midgets raced at the track. [1] That same year, the World of Outlaws sprint cars made their first appearance at the track in approximately twenty years. [5] In 2020, the weekly races were broadcast on FloRacing [6] as the track was not allowed to have fans due to a global pandemic. [7]

Eldora Speedway is a 0.5 mi (804.672 m) high-banked clay dirt oval. Located north of Rossburg, Ohio in the village of New Weston, Ohio, it features permanent and festival-style seating believed to be in the range of 30,000. The 22,000 permanent grandstand and VIP suite seats make it the largest sports stadium in the Dayton, Ohio-region according to the Dayton Business Journal.

Bryan Clauson American racing driver

Bryan Clauson was an American professional auto racing driver. Best known for his achievements in dirt track open-wheel racing, such as USAC Silver Crown, Midget and Sprint cars. Bryan was seen more and more competing with the World of Outlaws (WoO) sprint cars in his last couple of years. Clauson was a dirt track icon who also competed in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, Indy Lights, and IndyCar Series and was a development driver for Chip Ganassi Racing.

The Turkey Night Grand Prix is an annual race of midget cars. It has been held on Thanksgiving night most years since 1934, where it was founded by Earl Gilmore at his Gilmore Stadium in Los Angeles. It stayed at this location until 1950. Since that time it has been held at various southern California race tracks. The event was eventually promoted by J.C. Agajanian and then later, by members of his family. Traditionally a dirt track event, it has been held more frequently on asphalt since the turn of the 21st century, although it returned to dirt in 2012. The feature race was held over 98 laps in the modern era, the same number that Agajanian used for his racecars.

Macon Speedway

Macon Speedway, located in Macon, Illinois is one of Illinois's premier dirt ovals. It is also one of the longest continuously-operating racetracks in the state.

Terre Haute Action Track

Terre Haute Action Track is a half mile dirt track located at the Vigo County, Indiana, fairgrounds on U.S. Route 41 along the south side of Terre Haute, Indiana. The track hosts annual United States Automobile Club (USAC) midget car, sprint car and Silver Crown events. Notable drivers that have competed at the track include A. J. Foyt, Jeff Gordon, Parnelli Jones, and Tony Stewart. The track has held events sanctioned by USAC, its predecessor American Automobile Association (AAA), and the World of Outlaws.

Chili Bowl Nationals Indoor midget car racing event

The Chili Bowl Midget Nationals is an indoor midget car racing event. It takes place on a 1/4 mile dirt track at the Tulsa Expo Center in January, two weeks after Christmas. NASCAR calls it the "biggest Midget race of the year". It is nicknamed the "Super Bowl of midget racing".

Brad Sweet American sprint car and stock car driver

Bradley Sweet is an American professional race car driver and a veteran of the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series, driving the No. 49 for Kasey Kahne Racing, where he has earned the nickname 'The Big Cat'. Sweet was formerly a JR Motorsports development driver in the NASCAR Nationwide Series.

Kyle Miyata Larson, nicknamed "Yung Money", is an American professional auto racing driver. He competes full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series, driving the No. 5 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE for Hendrick Motorsports. He is the 2012 NASCAR K&N Pro Series East champion and Rookie of the Year, the 2013 NASCAR Nationwide Series Rookie of the Year as well as the 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Rookie of the Year.

Rico Emanuel Abreu is an American professional dirt track and stock car racing driver. Abreu won the 2014 USAC National Midget Series championship, and previously competed in the K&N Pro Series East in 2015 scoring one win.

Christopher Bell (racing driver) American racing driver

Christopher David Bell is an American professional stock car racing driver and a Toyota Racing Development driver. He competes full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series, driving the No. 20 Toyota Camry for Joe Gibbs Racing. He is the 2017 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Champion.

Husets Speedway Racetrack

Huset's Speedway is an American dirt track racing complex located in Brandon, South Dakota. Its name was changed to Badlands in 2015 when it was sold to Chuck Brennan, the owner of the Badlands Entertainment Group. The track opened in the 1950s. In the 2016 season, the track was also used as a concert venue as well as hosting monster truck, tractor pulling and Endurocross events. The track hosted a 2015 World of Outlaws Sprint car tour race. In 2016, the tracks hosted a $100,000-to-win 410 Sprint car show and a $250,000 Gold Cup sprint car race. The track closed in 2017 and reopened in 2020.

Hagerstown Speedway Racetrack

Hagerstown Speedway is a 0.5-mile-long (0.80 km) red clay oval auto-racing track, 6 miles (9.7 km) west of Hagerstown, Maryland, situated on US Route 40. It hosts weekly local racing of Late Model Sportsman, Pure Stock, and Hobby Stock divisions, and throughout the season hosts regional and national touring series such as the Lucas Oil Late Model Series, International Motor Contest Association, and FASTRAK. Along with the car-racing schedule during the year, Monster Jam has used the track for events for several decades, along with various concerts and special events. The speedway has also hosted World of Outlaws, ARCA, and NASCAR races in the past.

David Gravel is an American professional racing driver. He competes full-time in the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series, driving the No. 2 Maxim for Big Game Motorsports, in the NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series, driving the No. 24 Chevrolet Silverado for GMS Racing, and in the ARCA Menards Series, driving the No. 28 Chevrolet SS for KBR Development. Gravel is the most recent winner of the Knoxville Nationals.

Kokomo Speedway is a quarter mile dirt semi-banked oval racing track in Kokomo, Indiana. The track hosts weekly Sunday night races during the American summer months. It has hosted or currently hosts national tours for sprint, late models, midget, and ARCA stock cars.

Gio Scelzi American auto racing driver

Giovanni Scelzi is an American racing driver. He currently competes full-time in the ARCA Menards Series West and part-time in the ARCA Menards Series East and ARCA Menards Series, driving the No. 16 Toyota for Bill McAnally Racing in all three series. He also competes part-time in various sprint car racing events, driving the No. 5 car for Guy Forbrook.

Kyle Larson Racing, originally Larson Marks Racing, is an American sprint car and midget car racing team owned by NASCAR driver Kyle Larson. Fielding cars for Shane Stewart and later Carson Macedo, the team won over 40 sprint car races across multiple series between 2014 and 2020; Larson himself has won multiple crown jewel midget races driving for the team.

Shane Golobic is an American professional dirt track racing driver. He competes in the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series and United States Auto Club (USAC) National Midget Series for Matt Wood Racing. Prior to racing nationally, much of his dirt racing participation came in his home state of California, which included winning track championships and the California Sprint Car Civil War Series in 2014.
