Volunteer Speedway is a 4/10 mile long dirt race track [1] located in Greene County in the eastern part of Tennessee, in Mosheim (14095 West Andrew Johnson Highway, Bulls Gap, TN postal address). It is known as "The World's Fastest Dirt Track". It has the nickname of "The Gap." [2] The track is banked at 32 degrees in the corners and is known for its high speed. [3] The track record of 10.258 seconds is held by Kasey Kahne in a sprint car. [4]

History

It was originally built in 1973 and opened during the 1974 racing season. The track was originally owned by Ed Turner before Joe and Phyllis Loven ran the track. [5] Mitch McCarter (the owner of 411 Speedway) leased the track in 2017 and 2018. [5] Stan Lester, owner of FASTRAK Racing Series, operated the track with Phyllis Loven in early 2019 before the track was sold to Landon Stallard. [5] Stallard put the track up for sale in February 2021 while continuing to operate the track. [5]

Racing Events

The track hosts regional and national dirt track events for several sanctioning bodies. It holds national events including the World of Outlaws Late Model Series [6] and Crate Nationals. [1] As of 2020, the World of Outlaws have raced at the track in 2004, 2007, 2008, 2018, and 2020. [3] The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series held races at the track in 2007, 2008, twice in 2009, three times in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014. [3] Regional events include: Schaeffer’s Oil Iron-Man Championship Late Model Series, [2] FASTRAK Racing Series, [1] American Sprint Car Series, [7] and the Southern Nationals. [8] The track previously held events for the All Star Circuit of Champions sprint cars. Between 2004 and 2020, the track has hosted 17 national dirt late model races between the World of Outlaws and Lucas Oil sanctions. [3] Winners in those 17 races include Jimmy Owens (3), Scott Bloomquist (2), and Tim McCreadie. [3]

The track is still operating on a weekly basis running local events. Weekly classes include Crate late models, Steel Head Late Models, Sportsman Late Model, [9] Modified Streets, and Classic. [10] The track works with nearby 411 Motor Speedway, Smoky Mountain Speedway, and Tazewell Speedway for matters of mutual concern. [5]

Ohsweken Speedway

The Ohsweken Speedway is a 3/8 mile dirt track in the village of Ohsweken, Ontario, Canada. Ohsweken’s weekly Friday night racing program runs from May to September each year, featuring 360 Sprint Cars, Crate Sprint Cars, Thunder Stocks, and Mini Stocks, while the season finishes each year with the annual Canadian Sprint Car Nationals. Ohsweken Speedway also hosts weekly Micro Sprint racing on Thursday nights, and hosted the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series from 2007 until 2017.

Eldora Speedway Motorsport track in Ohio, United States

Eldora Speedway is a 0.5 mi (804.672 m) high-banked clay dirt oval. Located north of Rossburg, Ohio in the village of New Weston, Ohio, it features permanent and festival-style seating believed to be in the range of 30,000. The 22,000 permanent grandstand and VIP suite seats make it the largest sports stadium in the Dayton, Ohio-region according to the Dayton Business Journal.

Concord Speedway is a defunct motorsports facility located in the town of Midland, North Carolina, southeast of Concord, North Carolina. The complex featured a 1⁄2-mile asphalt tri-oval and a 1⁄4-mile asphalt oval.

Manzanita Speedway

The Manzanita Speedway was a dirt track racing facility located in the suburban southwestern part of Phoenix, Arizona, United States. The facility had a 1/3 mile and 1/2 mile tracks. The track held USAC events up through the 2009 Sprint Car season opener. The track was sold to a rigging company and the final race was held on April 11, 2009.

Tyler County Speedway is a 1/4 mile dirt oval located in Tyler County, southeast of Middlebourne, West Virginia. Located at the Tyler County Fair Grounds, it hosts many large races such as the Hillbilly 100, Earl Hill Memorial, Topless 50, Eaton/Childers 'King of the Ring', Jackpot 100, and the Mega 100. Classes currently raced at Tyler County Speedway are Super Late Models, FASTRAK Late Models, EDGE Modifieds, EDGE Hot Mods, Modlites, and Mini Wedges.

Macon Speedway

Macon Speedway, located in Macon, Illinois is one of Illinois's premier dirt ovals. It is also one of the longest continuously-operating racetracks in the state.

Bedford Speedway is a 5/8 mile oval, semi-banked, clay, race track located in Bedford County, near Bedford, Pennsylvania. The track is also known as the Bedford Fairgrounds Speedway and is host to the Great Bedford County Fair. The track hosts the All Star Circuit of Champions, World of Outlaws Late Model Series.

The LaSalle Speedway is a 1/4 mile dirt track racing speedway founded in 1947 and located in LaSalle, Illinois. The speedway closed in 2019 in the middle of the racing season. The track has returned for sporatic events in 2021.

Rico Emanuel Abreu is an American professional dirt track and stock car racing driver. Abreu won the 2014 USAC National Midget Series championship, and previously competed in the K&N Pro Series East in 2015 scoring one win.

Josh Richards American racing driver

Joshua Richards is an American professional stock car racing driver from Shinnston, West Virginia. He currently races dirt Late Models in the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series where he was the champion in 2017. Richards was a four-time champion in the World of Outlaws Late Model Series.

Tri-State Speedway is a high-banked 1/4 Mile dirt oval track located in Haubstadt, Indiana, approximately 16 miles north of Evansville, Indiana. The track currently hosts World of Outlaws sprint cars, USAC sprints, POWRi Lucas Oil WAR sprints, MSCS Sprints, and UMP modifieds.

Kyle Strickler American auto racing driver

Kyle Strickler is an American professional dirt track racing driver. He currently competes in dirt late models and modified cars. He last competed part-time in the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series, driving the No. 54 Toyota Tundra for DGR-Crosley. He is nicknamed the "High Side Tickler."

Dixie Speedway

Dixie Speedway is a 3/8 mile clay oval in Woodstock, Georgia. Located 30 miles north of downtown Atlanta, the track features over 5,000 permanent seats on a 150-acre property.

Hagerstown Speedway Racetrack

Hagerstown Speedway is a 0.5-mile-long (0.80 km) red clay oval auto-racing track, 6 miles (9.7 km) west of Hagerstown, Maryland, situated on US Route 40. It hosts weekly local racing of Late Model Sportsman, Pure Stock, and Hobby Stock divisions, and throughout the season hosts regional and national touring series such as the Lucas Oil Late Model Series, International Motor Contest Association, and FASTRAK. Along with the car-racing schedule during the year, Monster Jam has used the track for events for several decades, along with various concerts and special events. The speedway has also hosted World of Outlaws, ARCA, and NASCAR races in the past.

Kokomo Speedway is a quarter mile dirt semi-banked oval racing track in Kokomo, Indiana. The track hosts weekly Sunday night races during the American summer months. It has hosted or currently hosts national tours for sprint, late models, midget, and ARCA stock cars.

Shane Stewart American racing driver

Shane Stewart is an American retired professional racing driver. Winner of the 2015 Kings Royal, he last competed in the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series and the All Star Series of Champions.

141 Speedway Race track in Maribel, Wisconsin

141 Speedway is a dirt racing track located between Maribel and Francis Creek, Wisconsin. The track is 1⁄3-mile and hosts a weekly racing program with numerous International Motor Contest Association classes.
