Playlist is the first greatest hits album from Australian alternative/rock group, Birds of Tokyo. The album includes tracks from the band's four studio albums and three extended plays. The album was released on 6 November 2015 and it debuted and peaked at number 4 on the Australian ARIA Charts. [1]
The album was announced on 9 October 2015, alongside the release of the video for "I'd Go with You Anywhere". The band describe Playlist as "a nod to our creative journey so far, as much as it is looking to the next phase." [2]
Guitarist Adam Spark explains that the idea for Playlist began in 2014 when the band was based in the United States. "It was a bit weird, after making music for ages we were suddenly doing interviews for the 'new faces' sections of magazines again. We needed to give American music industry people a quick sense of what the band was all about so we created a playlist that had a couple of key tracks off each album." Bass player Ian Berney adds: "Obviously 'Greatest Hits' albums are pretty much a thing of the past because now we can all just create our own playlists if we want. Most people don't even want to sit through one whole album these days let alone wading through five of them so at least this playlist puts all our most immediate songs in the one place and then if people hear it want to dig deeper, they can. There's plenty more where this came from." [3]

Michael Smith from Renowned for Sound gave the album 4 out of 5, writing: "The reverse chronological order of the album works well, easing new fans that may not have heard Birds of Tokyo's earlier material into something a little different to what they're used to from the band, and showing just much how they've matured over the years. There's been quite a drastic change since their humble beginnings: Opening on the poppy string sections of "I’d Go with You Anywhere" and the new age synth balladry of "Anchor", it marks a distinct change from the alt rock of "The Saddest Thing I Know" and "Broken Bones", let alone their aggressive post-grunge days, as represented by tracks like "Off Kilter" and "Wayside" at the tail end of the album." Mark Beresford of The Music gave the album two-and-a-half out of five stars, remarking: "It's an interesting retrospect to see the slightly more unhinged rock origins of the band evolving into the radio heavies we hear today." [4]

Mayday Parade is an American rock band from Tallahassee, Florida. Their debut EP Tales Told by Dead Friends was released in 2006, and sold over 50,000 copies without any label support. In July 2007, Mayday Parade released their debut album A Lesson in Romantics. After signing to Fearless in 2006, the band also signed onto a major label with Atlantic in 2009. Their second studio album, Anywhere but Here was released in October 2009 and their third album, entitled Mayday Parade, was released in October 2011. Mayday Parade's fourth album, titled Monsters in the Closet, was released in October 2013. Their fifth album, titled Black Lines, was released October 2015. In April 2018, the band signed to Rise Records and released their sixth studio album Sunnyland on June 15, 2018.
Birds of Tokyo are an Australian alternative rock band from Perth, Western Australia. Their debut album, Day One, gained them domestic success, reaching number three on the AIR Independent Album charts and spending a total of 36 consecutive weeks in the top ten.

Birds of Tokyo is the third album by Australian alternative rock band Birds of Tokyo, released on 23 July 2010 through EMI Records. It was recorded in Sydney, Australia; New York City; London; and Gothenburg, Sweden, produced by Scott Horscroft, co-produced by Adam Spark and mixed by Michael Brauer. This is the last album to feature Anthony Jackson on bass guitar before his departure in March 2011. At the J Awards of 2010, the album was nominated for Australian Album of the Year.

The Single artwork is by Leif Podhajsky. The song came in at number 51 on the Triple J Hottest 100, 2012. Sales towards "This Fire" counted towards the EP which peaked at number 32 and was certified gold in 2013.
Kaleo is an Icelandic blues rock band which formed in Mosfellsbær in 2012. It consists of lead vocalist and guitarist JJ, drummer David Antonsson, bassist Daniel Kristjansson, lead guitarist Rubin Pollock and harmonicist Þorleifur Gaukur Davíðsson. They have released three studio albums, Kaleo (2013), A/B (2016) and Surface Sounds (2021) as well as an EP, Glasshouse (2013). A/B has sold over one million albums worldwide. One of the singles from A/B, "Way Down We Go", was certified double platinum in the US and reached number one on the Billboard Alternative Songs chart on 20 August 2016. Kaleo received a Grammy nomination in 2017 for Best Rock Performance for the song "No Good".

It was released on 25 September 2015, as the lead single from their compilation album, Playlist. "I'd Go with You Anywhere" debuted at No. 40 on the ARIA singles chart and peaked at No. 18 five weeks later, becoming Birds of Tokyo's third Top 20 hit after "Plans" (2010) and "Lanterns" (2013).
"Wild at Heart" is the third single from Australian alternative rock rock band, Birds of Tokyo's self-titled third album, Birds of Tokyo. The song peaked at No. 50 on the Australian Singles Chart in February 2011 and was certified gold. It was listed at No. 47 in Triple J Hottest 100, 2010. At the ARIA Music Awards of 2011, the song was nominated for Single of the Year, but lost to "Somebody That I Used to Know" by Gotye and Kimbra.
