Plesiotrochus is a genus of sea snails, marine gastropod mollusks in the family Plesiotrochidae. [1]
Plesiotrochus was originally placed in the superfamily Cerithioidea but was subsequently transferred to the superfamily Campaniloidea by Healy (1993). [2]
The shell have an elongate, conical shape. Their length of rather small (between 5 mm and 10 mm, with one species up to 24 mm). The imperforate whorls are flat to concave. The subrhomboidal aperture is smooth within and prolonged by a short siphonal canal. The outer lip is subrostrate in the middle. The columella and the siphonal canal are twisted. The sculpture shows conspicuous ribs with varices or just spirals. The operculum is eccentric. [3]
The species occur in the Indo-Pacific.
Species within the genus Plesiotrochus include:
Neogastropoda is a clade of sea snails, both freshwater and marine gastropod molluscs.
Sorbeoconcha is a taxonomic clade of snails, i.e. gastropods, mainly marine species with gills and opercula, within the clade Caenogastropoda.
Turbinidae, the turban snails, are a family of small to large marine gastropod molluscs in the superfamily Trochoidea.
The Buccinidae are a very large and diverse taxonomic family of large sea snails, often known as whelks or true whelks.
The Trochidae, common name top-snails or top-shells, are a taxonomic family of very small to large sea snails, marine gastropod molluscs in the clade Vetigastropoda.
Assiminea is a genus of minute, salt-tolerant snails with an operculum, aquatic gastropod mollusks, or micromollusks, in the family Assimineidae.
Thiaridae, common name thiarids or trumpet snails, is a family of tropical freshwater snails with an operculum, aquatic gastropod mollusks in the superfamily Cerithioidea.
Trochoidea is a superfamily of small to very large vetigastropod sea snails with gills and an operculum. Species within this superfamily have nacre as the inner shell layer. The families within this superfamily include the Trochidae, the top snails. This superfamily is the largest vetigastropodan superfamily, containing more than 2,000 species.
Cerithiidae, common name the cerithiids or ceriths, is a large family of medium-sized marine gastropods in the clade Sorbeoconcha.

The Cerithioidea is a superfamily of marine, brackish water and freshwater gastropod containing more than 200 genera. The Cerithoidea are included in the clade Sorbeoconcha. The original name of this superfamily was Cerithiacea, in keeping with common superfamily endings at the time.
