The manufacture and adoption of electric vehicles have been given preferential treatment by the Vietnamese government in order to reduce vehicle emission pollution. [1] From March 1, 2022, battery powered cars will be exempt from registration fees for 3 years, along with subject to reduced excise taxes.

VinFast, a subsidiary of conglomerate VinGroup, launched the Klara electric scooter in November 2018. [3] In December 2021, the company delivered the VF e34, the first electric automobile to be produced in Vietnam as well as the first EV sold in the country. [4] VinFast announced plans to build a $2 billion electric vehicle factory in North Carolina, with production expected to begin in 2024 [5] [6]
Startup Dat Bike launched its Weaver electric motorbike in 2019, and the Weaver 200 in 2021. [7] In February 2021, Modmo e-bikes began shipping to 27 countries from their factory outside Ho Chi Minh City. [8] [9]
VinBus Ecology Transport Services LLC (VinBus), a VinGroup subsidiary, launched Vietnam's first electric bus at Vinhomes Ocean Park, Hanoi, in April 2021. [10] The company aims to manufacture 200-300 electric buses per year over the next few years, to be run on 15 routes in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Phu Quoc City. [11] [12]
In March 2022, the first of five trial electric bus lines launched in Ho Chi Minh City. The buses are operated by VinBus, and connect Vinhomes Grand Park in Thu Duc District with District 1's Saigon Bus Station. [13]
Selex Motors launched its Camel electric delivery scooter in 2022. [14]
Transportation in Vietnam is improving rapidly in terms of both quantity and quality. Road traffic is growing rapidly but the major roads are dangerous and slow to travel on due to outdated design and an inappropriate traffic mix. In recent years, the construction of expressways has accelerated. Air travel is also important for long distance travel. Metro systems are under construction in the two metropolises of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

Bánh xèo is a crispy, stuffed rice pancake popular in Vietnam. The name refers to the sound a thin layer of rice batter makes when it is poured into the hot skillet. It is a savoury fried pancake made of rice flour, water, and turmeric powder. It can also be called a Vietnamese crêpe. Some common stuffings include pork, prawns, diced green onion, mung bean, and bean sprouts. Bánh xèo is often served with sides. Usually, some commonly added ingredients include leafy greens like lettuces or perilla leaves, other herbs as flavor enhancers like mint leaves and Thai basil, cucumbers, and pickled vegetables, usually carrots and radishes. Lastly, its dipping sauce is nước chấm. Elements of each side and sauce add to the fresh-tasting fried Bánh Xèo.

Le Van Tam Park, previously known as Mạc Đĩnh Chi Cemetery, is a park in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. It formerly was a large and prestigious French colonial cemetery in South Vietnam, located near the US Embassy, Saigon. The cemetery had a wooded, bucolic setting, surrounded by a tall concrete wall, with a gated entrance on Hai Ba Trung Street. It originated as the burial ground for those killed during the 1859 battle for the Gia Dinh Citadel.

The automotive industry in Vietnam is a fast-growing sector mainly reliant on domestic sales. All currently produced models are designed abroad by foreign brands, and many rely on knock-down kit production. Due to high import taxes on automobiles, the Vietnamese government protects domestic manufacturing. Although Vietnam is a member of the ASEAN Free Trade Area, automobile imports fall under an exception. Since January 1, 2018, the 30% import tax has been discontinued as part of ASEAN agreements. Currently, the Vietnamese motor industry is not deemed competitive enough to make exports feasible. As of April 2018, 85% of car sales in Vietnam were produced domestically from knock-down kits.

Built in front of the Municipal Theatre of Ho Chi Minh City, underneath Lê Lợi Boulevard, the station opened to public viewing in April 2020. New Eastern Bus Terminus is the largest bus station in Vietnam, located in the border of Thủ Đức, Ho Chi Minh City and Dĩ An, Bình Dương Province. The station opened in April 2020, and is aimed at reducing congestion at the Eastern Bus Station in Bình Thạnh District.

Turtle Lake is a lake surrounded by a traffic roundabout in District 3, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Located at the intersection of Pham Ngoc Thach, Tran Cao Van and Vo Van Tan streets, the lake is adorned with a modernist monument designed by architect Nguyễn Kỳ, and unveiled in 1969. Prior to this, a 1878-built French water tower existed, which was replaced by a small lake and monument in 1921. The area is popular for street food vendors, and in 2023 was developed into a pedestrian area.
