Poe is an unincorporated community in Marion Township, Allen County, in the U.S. state of Indiana. [2]
It has about two city blocks of area. Namita Kamath of The Journal Gazette wrote that "Poe is frequently associated with Hoagland". [3]
Poe was first named Williamsport, in honor of landowner William Essig, but it was changed because the U.S. postal authorities refused to accept that name, there being another post office in the state with a similar name. [4]

Poe has a downtown. In 1995 Kamath quoted an area resident who stated that Poe's downtown had much less activity than it had previously. [3]
The fire department building moved onto land donated by an area individual in the 1960s. [3]
A post office was established at Poe in 1856, [5] and remained in operation until it was discontinued by 1917. The Fort Wayne, Indiana post office serves Poe as of 1997. [3]
In 1956 the Poe Southwestern Telephone Association was issuing One share of Capital Stock for $25 per share. [6]
The East Allen County Schools district includes Poe, and Heritage Elementary School and Heritage Junior/Senior High School are the facilities Poe is zoned to. [7] [8]
Poe and Hoagland share a Methodist congregation, [3] Hope United Methodist Church, located outside of the Hoagland CDP. [9] There were previously two separate congregations, Poe (Williamsport) United Methodist Church and Hoagland United Methodist Church (originally Middletown Methodist Church), which merged into Hope in 1995. [10] The former Poe church was to be converted for residential use. [3]
Poe Days is an annual celebration to help fund the fire department.
Fort Wayne is a city in and the county seat of Allen County, Indiana, United States. Located in northeastern Indiana, the city is 18 miles (29 km) west of the Ohio border and 50 miles (80 km) south of the Michigan border. Milan Township is one of twenty townships in Allen County, Indiana, United States. Milan Township is located in east central Allen County, with the Maumee River meandering across the township. As of the 2010 census, its population was 3,749. The township is highly rural, with only 1,137 houses in the 2010 census. Many of the residents of Milan Township are Swiss Amish who mostly speak a Low Alemannic Alsatian dialect. Milan township is generally demarcated by Schwartz Road to the west, Notestine Road to the north, Sampson Road to the east, and Gar Creek Road to the south.

Hygiene is an unincorporated community with a U.S. Post Office in Boulder County, Colorado, United States. Application for the first Hygiene Post Office was made by Jacob Stoner Flory of the United Church of the Brethren on May 28, 1883. Originally named Pella, the community's present name stems from a time when it had a sanatorium to work with tuberculosis patients. St. Vrain Church of the Brethren, a historic Church of the Brethren congregation, is located in the town.

One of five secondary schools in the East Allen County Schools system, Heritage serves students in grades 7-12 in the communities of: Hoagland, Monroeville, and Poe. A small portion of the New Haven city limits coincides with this school's attendance zone.
Roberts Park Methodist Episcopal Church, whose present-day name is Roberts Park United Methodist Church, was dedicated on August 27, 1876, making it one of the oldest church remaining in downtown Indianapolis. Diedrich A. Bohlen, a German-born architect who immigrated to Indianapolis in the 1850s, designed this early example of Romanesque Revival architecture. The church is considered one of Bohlen's major works. Constructed of Indiana limestone at Delaware and Vermont Streets, it has a rectangular plan and includes a bell tower on the southwest corner. The church is known for its interior woodwork, especially a pair of black-walnut staircases leading to galleries (balconies) surrounding the interior of three sides of its large sanctuary. The church was added to the National Register of Historic Places on August 19, 1982. It is home to one of several Homeless Jesus statues around the world, this one located behind the church on Alabama Street.
