Poiocera [1] is a genus of planthoppers in the family Fulgoridae (subfamily Poiocerinae) occurring in South America.
Pentatomidae is a family of insects belonging to the order Hemiptera, generally called shield bugs or stink bugs. Pentatomidae is the largest family in the superfamily Pentatomoidea, and contains around 900 genera and over 4700 species. As hemipterans, the pentatomids have piercing sucking mouthparts, and most are phytophagous, including several species which are severe pests on agricultural crops. However, some species, particularly in the subfamily Asopinae, are predatory and may be considered beneficial.
The family Fulgoridae is a large group of hemipteran insects, especially abundant and diverse in the tropics, containing over 125 genera worldwide. They are mostly of moderate to large size, many with a superficial resemblance to Lepidoptera due to their brilliant and varied coloration. Various genera and species are sometimes referred to as lanternflies or lanthorn flies, though they do not emit light.
Dermestes is a genus of beetles in the family Dermestidae, the skin beetles. The genus is distributed worldwide.
Buprestis is a genus of beetles in the tribe Buprestini, the jewel beetles. As of 2011 there were 78 described species distributed across most of the world's biogeographic realms except parts of Africa and Antarctica.
The Lasiocampinae are a subfamily of the moth family Lasiocampidae. The subfamily was described by Thaddeus William Harris in 1841.
Achaea is a genus of moths in the family Erebidae described by Jacob Hübner in 1923.
Hydaticus is a genus of predatory water beetle belonging to the family Dytiscidae. Hydaticus can be found throughout most of the world. There are 150 described species and 12 subspecies in two subgenera in the genus Hydaticus.
The Stenopodainae are a subfamily of Reduviidae. Many species of this subfamily are endemic to tropical rainforests, and some smear their fore legs with sticky, plant-derived resin, to aid in prey capture.
Scutellerinae is a subfamily of shield-backed bugs erected by Leach in 1815.
Lampetis is a genus of beetles in the family Buprestidae, containing the following species:
Notiobia is a genus of ground beetles in the family Carabidae, comprising at least 100 species.
Cicada is a genus of old world cicadas in the family Cicadidae, and the tribe Cicadini. There are at least 60 described species in Cicada.
Smiliinae is a subfamily of treehoppers in the family Membracidae. These are bugs and include about 100 genera in 10 tribes.
Dictyophara is the type genus of planthoppers belonging to the family Dictyopharidae and tribe Dictyopharini, containing five subgenera. The scientific genus name Dictyophara derives from the Greek and can be translated "who wears a net".
Aphanus is a genus of dirt-colored seed bugs in the family Rhyparochromidae. There are more than 20 described species in Aphanus.
Acmonia is a genus of planthoppers in the family Fulgoridae, subfamily Poiocerinae. Species are distributed throughout Central America and South America.
Heteronotus is a genus of treehoppers belonging to the subfamily Heteronotinae, of which it is the type genus. It was first described by François Laporte in 1832.
Cyphonia is a genus of treehopper belonging to the subfamily Smiliinae. It contains 33 species.
