Polaris is the third studio album by British progressive metal band Tesseract. It was released on 18 September 2015, both digitally and physically on vinyl and CD. There is also a 2-disc version with the album mixed in 5.1 surround sound. [1]
Tesseract parted ways with vocalist Ashe O'Hara in June 2014 and invited original vocalist Daniel Tompkins back into the band. Tompkins, who had been dedicated full-time to the band Skyharbor, agreed to return, and writing for a third Tesseract album commenced. [2]
The first single from the album, "Messenger", was released on 3 August 2015 on Kscope's YouTube and SoundCloud pages. [3] The second single from the album, "Survival" was then released on 3 September 2015 along with the video for the same. The video was filmed and directed by Pele Newell with the Derbyshire landscape as the backdrop. [4]

Polaris received generally positive reviews. Review aggregate Metacritic gave the album a 74 out of 100 based on 6 professional critics. Tom Jurek of AllMusic gave the album a positive review saying "Polaris is the record that Tesseract have been working toward. The evolved maturity of their writing, playing, and arranging is matched by the experience and confidence Tomkins gained while away. Reunited, they deliver not only creativity and sophistication but inspiration." Thompson D. Gerhart of Sputnikmusic gave the album a mixed review.
The most positive feedback came from the AU Review's Dave Roberts, who called it "one of the most amazing albums" of 2015 and compared the album to masterpieces by other artists, for instance Dream Theater's Octavarium and Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey, and sums up his review as follows: "In short, if you are a fan of djent music, buy this album. If you like metal, do the same. If you like music, do it. You know what, just get it."

Martin Grech is an English singer, songwriter and musician from Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire.
Fellsilent were a British heavy metal band from Milton Keynes. They possessed a technical, polyrhythmic style, similar to bands such as Meshuggah and Sikth. The band also focused on some melodic elements. They released their debut album The Hidden Words in 2008 which gained immediate popularity among metal fans. Touring with other British bands such as Enter Shikari and Exit Ten helped them to gain further popularity. In 2008, Fellsilent signed to US record label Sumerian Records.
Djent is a subgenre of progressive metal characterized by its use of complex and heavily syncopated rhythm patterns. Its distinctive sound is that of high-gain, distorted, palm-muted, down-tuned strings. The name "djent" is an onomatopoeia of this sound.
Tesseract are a British progressive metal band from Milton Keynes. The band, formed in 2003, consists of Daniel Tompkins, Alec "Acle" Kahney, James Monteith, Amos Williams and Jay Postones. The band is currently signed to Kscope. They are credited as one of the bands to pioneer the djent movement in progressive metal. As of 2023, Tesseract have released five studio albums: One, Altered State, Polaris, Sonder and War of Being, as well as two live albums, Odyssey/Scala and Portals, and the extended plays Concealing Fate, Perspective, Errai and Regrowth.

Concealing Fate is the debut EP by British progressive metal band Tesseract, released on 11 October 2010. "This is a concept album based on life and its obstacles," said vocalist Daniel Tompkins which was featured on a bonus DVD along with their first studio album One (2011). Concealing Fate is split into 6 parts: "Acceptance", "Deception", "The Impossible", "Perfection", "Epiphany" and "Origin". A live studio playthrough of the EP was also included as a bonus DVD along with One, and a video for "Deception" was released in 2010.

The Optimist is the eleventh album by rock band Anathema. The album was released on 9 June 2017, through Kscope, three years after their last release, Distant Satellites. The idea for The Optimist originated from the cover artwork of the album A Fine Day to Exit (2001). The coordinates from the first track are pointing to Silver Strand beach in San Diego County, the location that is shown on the cover of A Fine Day to Exit. The Optimist won "Album of the Year" at the 2017 Progressive Music Awards. It is the final album featuring bassist Jamie Cavanagh before he left the band a second time in 2018. It was the band's second UK Top 40 success, peaking at #34.
Randy Slaugh is an American music producer and composer based in Salt Lake City, Utah. He has worked with artists such as Jelly Roll, Sleeping With Sirens, Yelawolf, Skillet, Architects, The Amity Affliction, Periphery, David Archuleta, TesseracT, Devin Townsend, and Four Year Strong, and is a member of Kscope's cross-continental music group White Moth Black Butterfly. In recent years, he has worked on music for television series on Netflix, CBS, NBC, ABC, Hulu, Discovery, ESPN, VH1, and MTV, for video games such as Free Fire, and for ad campaigns for Bombas, NBA, Levi's, and KMC Wheels. Slaugh is part of the Producers & Engineers Wing Committee for The Recording Academy, and a member of the Sundance Institute, Music Producers Guild, Society of Composers & Lyricists and the Heavy Music Awards.
Sonder is the fourth studio album by British progressive metal band Tesseract. It was released on 20 April 2018 through Kscope, following Polaris (2015).
White Moth Black Butterfly is a British/Indian/American cross-continental progressive pop project with members from Nottinghamshire, UK, New Delhi, India, and Salt Lake City, Utah, US. The group consists of TesseracT lead singer Daniel Tompkins, Skyharbor guitarist Keshav Dhar, as well as Randy Slaugh (keyboards/orchestrations), Jordan Bethany (vocals), and Mac Christensen.
War of Being is the fifth studio album by British progressive metal band Tesseract. The album was released on 15 September 2023 through Kscope. It was self-produced by the band and Peter Miles.
