Joseph Vijay Chandrasekhar, known professionally as Vijay, is an Indian actor and playback singer who works in Tamil cinema. In a career spanning over three decades, Vijay has acted in 68 films and is one of the most commercially successful actors in Tamil cinema with multiple films amongst the highest-grossing Tamil films of all time and is amongst the highest paid actors in India. Airtel Super Singer Junior – Ithu Thamizhagathin Chellakuralukkana Thedal – is a reality TV show since February 2007 hosted by Vijay TV, a popular Tamil channel of the Star Network, and sponsored by Bharti Airtel. It is a singing talent hunt for the children of age group 6–15. This is the junior version of the Airtel Super Singer show, which premiered on 28 April 2006. Auditions are held in various parts of Tamil Nadu, India. The show attracts many kids from all over the state and rigorous multi-level selection procedures are done in order to select the contestants for the competition. The tenth season is set to launch very soon.
Vivek Velmurugan known by his stage name Vivek is an Indian lyricist working on Tamil language films. After making his debut in Enakkul Oruvan (2015), he received critical acclaim for his work in 36 Vayadhinile (2015), Jil Jung Juk (2016), Mersal (2017), Sarkar (2018), Petta (2019), Bigil (2019) and Jagame Thandhiram (2021). His songs "Aalaporan Thamizhan", "Marana Mass", "Verithanam", "Tum Tum" and "Ranjithame" hit 100 million views on Youtube. Vivek has worked on over 200+ songs.
Natpe Thunai is a 2019 Indian Tamil-language sports film directed by D. Parthiban Desingu in his directorial debut, while Sreekanth Vasrp and Devesh Jeyachandran wrote the story, screenplay and dialogues. Produced by Sundar C and Khushbu under the banner Avni Movies, the film stars Hiphop Tamizha, Harish Uthaman, newcomer Anagha and Karu Pazhaniappan alongside actors Sha Ra, Pandiarajan and Kausalya. It is based on the sport of field hockey. In 2021, it was remade in Telugu as A1 Express.
Bigil (transl. Whistle) is a 2019 Indian Tamil-language sports action drama film directed by Atlee and produced by AGS Entertainment. The film stars Vijay in dual lead roles, alongside an ensemble cast of Nayanthara, Jackie Shroff, Vivek, Kathir, Daniel Balaji, Anandaraj, Yogi Babu, I. M. Vijayan, Arjan Bajwa, Indhuja Ravichandran, Reba Monica John, Amritha Aiyer and Varsha Bollamma. It is the third and final collaboration of Vijay with Atlee after Theri (2016) and Mersal (2017). The film follows Michael Rayappan a.k.a. "Bigil", a former footballer-turned-gangster, who ends up as coach of a women's football team.
"Singappenney" (transl. Lioness) is a 2019 Indian Tamil language song composed and sung by A. R. Rahman, from the film Bigil. The song's lyrics were written by Vivek and featured additional vocals by Shashaa Tirupati. The song has a motivational theme for women, hailed as a women's anthem. The song was released as a first single track of the film on 23 July 2019. The song features Vijay including the 11 women football players. Rahman and Atlee Kumar has a special entrance in the film through this song.
Master is a 2021 Indian Tamil-language action thriller film directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and produced by XB Film Creators. The film stars Vijay in the lead role as the protagonist and Vijay Sethupathi as the antagonist. Malavika Mohanan, Andrea Jeremiah, Arjun Das, Shanthanu Bhagyaraj and Gouri G. Kishan play supporting roles. It is also co-produced by Vijay's manager, Jagadish Palanisamy, jointly with Seven Screen Studio, which also distributed the film. The film follows John Durairaj "J.D.", an alcoholic professor, who takes a three-month teaching job in a juvenile home and clashes with a ruthless gangster named Bhavani, who uses the children as the scapegoat for his criminal activities.
Beast is a 2022 Indian Tamil-language action comedy film written and directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and produced by Kalanithi Maran under Sun Pictures. The film stars Vijay and Pooja Hegde in the lead roles, alongside Selvaraghavan, Shaji Chen, VTV Ganesh, Ankur Vikal, Aparna Das, Sathish Krishnan, Shine Tom Chacko, Yogi Babu and Redin Kingsley. In the film, Veera Raghavan, an ex-RAW agent, seeks to rescue hostages in a shopping mall which is hijacked by terrorists, whose intentions are to free their leader Umar Farooq, who was previously captured by Veera.
Bigil is the soundtrack album, composed by A. R. Rahman, to the 2019 Indian Tamil-language sports action film of the same name, directed by Atlee, starring Vijay. The soundtrack album consists of 5 songs, with 2 bonus tracks, all of them were penned by lyricist Vivek. The soundtrack album was released digitally on 27 September 2019, through the Sony Music India record label.
Sam Vishal J.X. is a singer and an independent vocalist. In 2019, he became the 2nd runner up of Super Singer 7 reality show. As the 2nd runner up of his season, he won a chance to sing songs for music director Anirudh Ravichander – 'Chitti Story' and 'Putta Story' for the film Master. Apart from film music, Sam Vishal is also a regular in independent music and is also seen releasing music independently. He has won the 'Sensational Singer at Digital' award at Blacksheep Digital Awards 2022.
"Verithanam" (transl. Frenzy) is an Indian Tamil-language song from the 2019 sports action film Bigil directed by Atlee. Composed by A. R. Rahman, the song featured lyrics written by Vivek and sung by actor Vijay, who also played the protagonist in the film. It is the first song Vijay has recorded for Rahman. The song was released by Sony Music India on 1 September 2019, and its video version was unveiled on 1 November.
Super Singer Season 10 is a 2023–2024 Indian Tamil-language reality television singing competition show. The tenth season of Super Singer airs every Saturday and Sunday on Star Vijay from 16 December 2023, and streams on Disney+ Hotstar. It is longest-running singing reality show in Tamil Nadu.
Maalavika Sundar is an Indian playback singer and actress, who works in predominately Tamil cinema. She participated in the reality show, Super Singer 3, in 2010 which was aired in Star Vijay and Indian Idol. She made her acting debut with the film Velvet Nagaram in 2020.
Season 5 of the Indian Tamil-language competitive reality television show Mr. and Mrs. Chinnathirai. The show is hosted by Ma Ka Pa Anand and Aranthangi Nisha. Gopinath Chandran returned as the judge for the show while Devadarshini was replaced by Radha.
