Although often reported as being endemic to the Andes of northern Ecuador, it has also been reported from extreme southern Colombia ; the possibility of range extension to Colombia has been acknowledged. Its type locality is the west slope of volcano Chiles in the Carchi Province, and common name Carchi robber frog has been coined for it. These frogs have pale hands and feet, as if wearing gloves and socks—hence the specific name ocreatus, which is Latin and means "wearing leggings" or "booted".

It is endemic to Ecuador and as currently understood, only known with certainty from its type locality, Mount Mirador near the border between Carchi and Sucumbíos Provinces. Pristimantis jamescameroni is a species of frog belonging to the family Strabomantidae. It is an orange-brown coloured small frog reported so far only from the Aprada-tepui, a table-top mountain in Bolívar state, Venezuela. It was discovered in June 2012 and formally described in October 2013 by Belgian biologist Philippe J. R. Kok at the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences and Vrije Universiteit Brussel. The species was named after the Hollywood filmmaker James Cameron, in recognition of his efforts in environmental awareness, and in addition to his public promotion of veganism as a way of animal conservation. Due to its restricted occurrence, the species could be classified as "endangered" according to the criteria of the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.

Stenodiscus is an extinct genus of bryozoan of the family Stenoporidae, known from the Carboniferous to the Upper Permian periods. Its colonies were large and could be encrusting, massive, or branching, sometimes made of multiple layers of growth over themselves, and usually possessed monticules with abundant large acanthostyles.
