The Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University (PJTSAU) is a state agriculture university, which was separated from the central Acharya N. G. Ranga Agricultural University in the year 2014 as a result of the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh. [3]

History

The university was established on 12 June 1964, with O.Pulla Reddy as the first vice-chancellor. It was formally inaugurated on 20 March 1965, by Lal Bahadur Shastri, the then Prime Minister of India in Hyderabad. On 23 June 1966, another milestone was the inauguration of the building program of the university by Indira Gandhi, the then Prime Minister of India.

Post bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, it was renamed as Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University and the headquarters of Acharya N. G. Ranga Agricultural University was shifted from Hyderabad to Guntur. [3]

According to the Andhra Pradesh Agricultural University Act, 1963, Colleges of Agriculture and Veterinary Science, Hyderabad (affiliated to Osmania University), Agricultural College, Bapatala (affiliated to Andhra University), Sri Venkateswara Agricultural College and Andhra Veterinary College, Tirupati (affiliated to Sri Venkateswara University) were transferred to the new university in June 1964. About 41 agricultural research stations and four research stations were transferred to the university in July 1966 and May 1967, respectively.[ citation needed ]

The Government of Telangana has planned to develop an IT cluster in Rajendra Nagar which will stretch across 350 acres of land from Budwel to Kismatpur. Budwel, Kismatpur, Sikanderguda and Shivarampalli are some of the nearby residential areas. Manasa Hills and Kothwalguda eco-hill park are tourist attractions in Rajendranagar.

AcharyaGogineni Ranga Nayukulu, also known as N. G. Ranga, was an Indian freedom fighter, classical liberal, parliamentarian and farmers' leader. He was the founding president of the Swatantra Party, and an exponent of the peasant philosophy. He received the Padma Vibhushan award for his contributions to the Peasant Movement. N.G. Ranga served in the Indian Parliament for six decades, from 1930 to 1991.

Kothapalli Jayashankar, popularly known as Professor Jayashankar, was an Indian academic and social activist. He was a leading ideologue of the Telangana Movement. He was the former Vice-Chancellor of Kakatiya University and an activist in the Separate Telangana Movement.

Andhra Vidyalaya College of Arts, Science and Commerce, popularly known as A. V. College, is an educational institution located in Hyderabad, India. The college offers undergraduate graduate and post graduate courses. The college is located on a 7.13-acre (2.89 ha) campus and is widely known for its emphasis on sports and games. It is accredited with A grade by NAAC.

He is an agriculturalist, with his past experience in the development sector, continues to be in the forefront of the leadership of like-minded initiatives and is an elected member of the 10-member international governing council of the Society for International Development (SID).

He served as the Member of Telangana Legislative Council (MLC) for Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy and Mahabubnagar Graduates' Constituency from 2015 to 2021. Mangina Venkateswara Rao was an Indian agricultural scientist, plant breeder, and geneticist who was considered as one of the key figures in India’s Green Revolution. He was instrumental in increasing the productivity of wheat and oil seeds in India. He served as the Vice Chancellor of the Acharya N. G. Ranga Agricultural University, Deputy Director of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), and vice president of the National Academy of Agricultural Sciences. He received the Borlaug Award in 1993, and Padma Shri, India's fourth highest civilian award, in 1999.

P. V. Narasimha Rao Telangana Veterinary University or (PVNRTVU), formerly Hyderabad Veterinary College and Sri P. V. Narasimha Rao Telangana State University for Veterinary, Animal and Fishery Sciences (SPVNRTSUVAFS), is a veterinary university situated in Rajendranagar, Hyderabad, Telangana, India. It was formed in 2014 after the division of Andhra Pradesh.

Neelamraju Ganga Prasada Rao was an Indian geneticist and plant breeder, known for his efforts in developing hybrid varieties of sorghum, which earned him the moniker, the Father of Hybrid Sorghum. He was the vice chancellor of Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Agricultural University and chaired the Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research. He was a recipient of several national honors including Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Award and the VASVIK Industrial Research Award. The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, the apex agency of the Government of India for scientific research, awarded him the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technology, one of the highest Indian science awards, in 1966, for his contributions to biological sciences.
