P. V. Narasimha Rao Telangana Veterinary University or (PVNRTVU), formerly Hyderabad Veterinary College and Sri P. V. Narasimha Rao Telangana State University for Veterinary, Animal and Fishery Sciences (SPVNRTSUVAFS), is a veterinary university [2] situated in Rajendranagar, Hyderabad, Telangana, India. It was formed in 2014 after the division of Andhra Pradesh.

History

The university was first established as Hyderabad Veterinary College in 1946 as a constituent college of Osmania University. It came under the administration of the Andhra Pradesh Agricultural University in 1964 when it was established, and remained so until 2005, when Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University was formed, bifurcating veterinary institutes. In 2014, following the reorganisation of Andhra Pradesh and the formation of Telangana, the Sri P. V. Narasimha Rao Telangana State University for Veterinary, Animal and Fishery Sciences was formed as via an Act of the Government of Telangana. [3] The university was renamed from 24-05-2016 as P. V. Narasimha Rao Telangana Veterinary University. [4] [5]

The Telangana High Court is the High Court for the Indian state of Telangana. Founded by the 7th Nizam of Hyderabad Mir Osman Ali Khan, initially, it was set up as High Court of Hyderabad for the then princely state of Hyderabad Deccan and later renamed High Court of Andhra Pradesh, as it was set up on 5 November 1956 under the States Reorganisation Act, 1956. The Andhra Pradesh High Court was renamed as High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad in view of the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh state.

Telugu theatre is Indian theatre in the Telugu language, based in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Gurajada Apparao wrote the play, Kanyasulkam in 1892, which is often considered the greatest play in the Telugu language. C. Pullaiah is cited as the father of Telugu theatre movement.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">P. V. Narasimha Rao</span> Prime Minister of India from 1991 to 1996

Pamulaparthi Venkata Narasimha Rao, popularly known as P. V. Narasimha Rao, was an Indian lawyer, statesman and politician from the Indian National Congress Party who was Prime Minister of India from 1991 to 1996. He was the first person from South India and second person from a non-Hindi speaking background to be the prime minister. He is especially known for introducing various liberal reforms to India's economy by recruiting Manmohan Singh as the finance minister to rescue the country from going towards bankruptcy during the economic crisis of 1991. Future prime ministers continued the economic reform policies pioneered by Rao's government. Rao was also referred to as Chanakya for his ability to steer economic and political legislation through the parliament at a time when he headed a minority government.

Jai Andhra movement is a 1972 political movement in support for the creation of Andhra state in the light of injustices felt by the people of the Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema Regions. This was after the Andhra Pradesh High Court and Supreme Court of India upheld the Mulki rules in existence at the time. This disenfranchised a vast majority of the population of the state from obtaining jobs in their own state capital. In ensuing protests and police firing eight people were killed. Prominent leaders from Andhra Pradesh: Tenneti Viswanadham, Raja Sagi Suryanarayana Raju, Gouthu Latchanna, Jupudi Yegnanarayana, N. Srinivasulu Reddy, B. V. Subba Reddy, Kakani Venkataratnam, Vasantha Nageswara Rao, M. Venkaiah Naidu, Nissankararao Ventakaratnam, Chowdary Satyanarayana, prominent student leaders like K.Sreedhar Rao, and Haribabu from Andhra University, M.S. Raju from Andhra Medical College, and many others participated in the agitation. It was a sequel to the 1969 Telangana movement. Over 400 people sacrificed their lives for the movement. One of the main opinions expressed was "Development is seen only in and around Hyderabad and it is time the coastal districts also develop rapidly".

Telangana has multiple institutes of higher education universities along with numerous primary and secondary schools.

Andhra Pradesh, retrospectively referred to as United Andhra Pradesh, Undivided Andhra Pradesh, and Combined Andhra Pradesh, was a state in India formed by States Reorganisation Act, 1956 with Hyderabad as its capital and was reorganised by Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014. The state was made up of three distinct cultural regions of Telangana, Rayalaseema, and Coastal Andhra. Before the 1956 reorganisation, Telangana had been part of Hyderabad State, whereas Rayalaseema and Coastal Andhra had been part of Andhra State, formerly a part of Madras Presidency ruled by British India.

Telugu Academy, known as Telugu And Sanskrit Akademi in official materials and some sources, can refer to two institutes set up to promote the use of Telugu and develop, preserve and modernize the language. The original one was set up by the Andhra Pradesh state government, while a new one using the original Hyderabad offices has been formed by the Telangana state government after bifurcation. The Academy has also became responsible for the creation and printing of school textbooks. This academy headquarters is located at Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh.
