Punjabi Culture Day, also known as Punjab Culture Day or Punjabi New Year, [2] is a day is celebrated on 14 March all over Punjab for the celebration and demonstration of Punjabi culture by Punjabis and Punjabi diaspora. [3] [4] [5]

Celebration

On Punjab Culture Day, events such as music, dance, bhangra, plays, exhibition, film festival, food and traditional dresses in the form of stalls to introduce cultural values to new generations of Punjabis. [6] In different programmes, tribute are paid to masters in the field of Fine Arts with purpose of promoting love and courtesy on national level. [7] 2020 Punjab Culture Day celebrated Punjab’s customary festivities and traditional colours on March 14 at Lahore's Alhamra Arts Council. [8] Government of Punjab, Pakistan, under Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar approved the celebrations of Punjab Culture Day at national level. [9] [10] Usman Buzdar described that the purpose to observe the Punjab Culture Day is to highlight different facets of Punjab culture and the land of Punjab is filled with hospitality, love and affection. Vaisakhi, also pronounced Baisakhi, marks the first day of the month of Vaisakh and is traditionally celebrated annually on 13 April and sometimes 14 April as a celebration of spring harvest primarily in Northern India. Hamza Shahbaz Former Chief Minister of Punjab

Mian Muhammad Hamza Shahbaz is a Pakistani politician, and was the 21st Chief Minister of Punjab. He took the oath of Chief Minister of Punjab on 30 April 2022, Speaker National Assembly of Pakistan Raja Pervaiz Ashraf took his oath. He has been a member of the Provincial Assembly of Punjab since August 2018. Previously, he was a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan from June 2008 to May 2018.

Samina Ahmad is a Pakistani film and television actress, stage performer, producer and director. She is a veteran television actress with over 50 years of work experience in the Urdu entertainment industry. Ahmad performed for many of PTV's major successful series, including Waris (1979), Alif Noon and Family Front. One of her most recent roles includes the Geo TV's widely-popular four-part comedy series Kis Ki Aayegi Baraat (2009–2012), and the Hum TV's acclaimed comedy drama series Suno Chanda (2018) and its sequel Suno Chanda 2 (2019). For her contributions towards the television industry, she was honoured by the Government of Pakistan with the Pride of Performance in 2011.

Mian Muhammad Aslam Iqbal Pakistani politician

Mian Muhammad Aslam Iqbal is a Pakistani politician who had been the Provincial Minister of Punjab for Information and Culture from 19 July 2019 to 2 December 2019. He also has been the Provincial Minister of Punjab for industries, commerce and investment, office since 27 August 2018. He has been a member of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab since August 2018. Previously he was a member of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab from 2002 to 2007 and again from June 2013 to May 2018.

Mehmood-ur-Rasheed Pakistani politician

Mian Mehmood ur Rashid is a Pakistani politician who is the current Provincial Minister of Punjab for housing, urban development and public health engineering, in office since 27 August 2018. He has been a member of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab, since August 2018. Previously he was a Member of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab from 1988 to 1993 and again from May 2013 to May 2018. He served as Leader of Opposition in the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab from June 2013 to May 2018

Basant is a spring time kite flying event during the Basant Panchami festival in the Punjab. It falls on Basant, also called Basant Panchami. According to the Punjabi calendar it is held on the fifth day of lunar month of Magha marking the start of spring.

Nighat Chaudhry Pakistani actress

Nighat Chaudhry is born on 24 February, in Lahore, Pakistan and moved to London when she was one year old. She is a trained Sufi & Mystique Kathak classical dancer. She started her journey from London and has been active as a professional Kathak dancer for over three decades. She studied ballet and contemporary dance. She met Nahid Siddiqui at age of fourteen, regarded as one of the greatest Kathak dancers and trained under her guidance. Inspired to learn the classical forms of her own culture, she abandoned ballet and join to understand and absorb the nuances of the style. This required her to be closer to its origins and she moved back to Pakistan.

Nauman Ahmad Langrial Pakistani politician

Malik Nauman Ahmad Langrial is a Pakistani politician who is the current Provincial Minister of Punjab for Agriculture, in office since 29 August 2018. He has been a member of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab since August 2018.

Abdul Aleem Khan is a Pakistani politician and a businessman and a controversial figure. He was accused of corruption and in February 2019, he was arrested by the Pakistan's National Accountability Bureau (NAB)).

Fayyaz ul Hassan Chohan Pakistani politician

Fayaz-ul-Hasan Chohan is a Pakistani politician who has been a member of Provincial Assembly of the Punjab since August 2018. He is currently serving as the Provisional Minister of Punjab for Prisons and colonies. He has previously served as Provincial Minister of Punjab for Information and Culture from 27 August 2018 to 5 March 2019. He served on this post for second time from 2 December 2019 to 2 December 2020.He currently serves as Spokesperson to Government of Punjab since 13 August 2021.

Muhammad Ajmal Cheema is a Pakistani politician who has been the Provincial Minister of Punjab for Bait-ul-Mal and Social Welfare, in office from 13 September 2018 to 19 July 2019. He has been a member of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab since August 2018.

Usman Buzdar Former chief minister of Punjab

Sardar Usman Ahmad Khan Buzdar( Urdu: سردار عثمان احمد خان بزدار; born 1 May 1969) is a Pakistani politician and the previously Chief Minister of Punjab from 20 August 2018 to 30 April 2022. He has been a member of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab since August 2018. He is also the Tumandar of the Baloch tribe Buzdar, since April 2019. He served as Tehsil Nazim of Taunsa Sharif from 2001 to 2008.

Faisal Hayat Jabboana is a Pakistani politician who has been a member of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab since August 2018.

Sardar Fateh Muhammad Khan Buzdar was a Pakistani politician who was a member of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab from 1985 to 1988 and from 2002 to 2013. He died on the 1st of April 2019.He was Tumandar of Buzdar (tribe).

Huma Safdar is a teacher, theatre artist, Punjabi language activist and director of feminist theatre “Sangat”. As an artist, she worked with Ajoka Theatre and Punjab Lok Rahs. She has taught as art and Punjabi language teacher in Lahore Grammar School. She has contributed a lot to promote Punjabi theatre, literature and folklore.

On 23 June 2021, a car bomb exploded in Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan, killing three people.

The constitutional crisis in Pakistan's Punjab province began on 28 March 2022, when Usman Buzdar tendered his resignation as Chief Minister at the request of Prime Minister Imran Khan and nominated former Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi to replace him. On 1 April 2022, his resignation was accepted by then Governor of Punjab.
