The Croatian Handball Federation is the governing body of handball in Croatia. It is based in Zagreb.
The Pan-American Team Handball Federation (PATHF) has been the continental governing body for handball, beach handball, wheelchair handball and snow handball in Americas since 23 May 1977. PATHF includes North America, Central America, South America and the Caribbean. PATHF's primary functions is to organize competitions for national teams and clubs, and to conduct Men's World Handball Championship and Women's World Handball Championship qualifying tournaments.

The 2015 World Men's Handball Championship was the 24th staging of the World Men's Handball Championship, organised by the International Handball Federation (IHF). The final tournament was held for the first time in Qatar, from 15 January to 1 February 2015. The Qatari bid was selected over those of Norway, Poland and France after a vote by the IHF Council on 27 January 2011, in Malmö, Sweden. This was the third time that the World Championship was hosted in the Middle East And North Africa, after Egypt in 1999 and Tunisia in 2005.

Beach handball competitions at the 2019 World Beach Games in Al Rayyan, Qatar are scheduled to be held from October 9 to October 14. The venue for the competition is located at Al-Gharafa. A total of twelve men's and twelve women's teams competed in each tournament. This means a total of 240 athletes are scheduled to compete.
