Last.fm is a music website founded in the United Kingdom in 2002. Using a music recommender system called "Audioscrobbler", Last.fm builds a detailed profile of each user's musical taste by recording details of the tracks the user listens to, either from Internet radio stations, or the user's computer or portable music devices. This information is transferred ("scrobbled") to Last.fm's database either via the music player or via a plug-in installed into the user's music player. The data is then displayed on the user's profile page and compiled to create reference pages for individual artists.

The service carries a focus on recommendations based on the "Music Genome Project", which is a means of classifying individual songs by musical traits such as genres and shared instrumentation. The service originally launched in the consumer market as an internet radio service that would generate personalized channels based on these traits as well as specific tracks liked by the user; this service is available in an advertising-supported tier and additionally a subscription-based version. In 2017, the service launched Pandora Premium, which is an on-demand version of the service more in line with contemporary competitors.

iHeartRadio is an American freemium broadcast, podcast and radio streaming platform owned by iHeartMedia. It was founded in August 2008 and iHeartRadio serves as the national umbrella brand for iHeartMedia's radio network, the largest radio broadcaster in the United States with 128 million registered users as of 2019 and its other consumer-facing brands. Its main radio competitors are Audacy, TuneIn and Sirius XM.
8tracks.com is an internet radio and social networking website revolving around the concept of streaming user-curated playlists consisting of at least 8 tracks. Users create free accounts and can browse the site and listen to other user-created mixes, as well as create their mixes. The site also has a subscription-based service, 8tracks Plus, although this is currently only available to listeners based in the United States and Canada.
rara was a music streaming media service. It operated between December 2011 and March 2015. Raditaz was an internet radio streaming music service for the web, iOS, and Android. Raditaz was a free product, and users could create stations, listen to over 200 customised stations, and utilize a tagging system to personalize their own stations. Users could find stations not just based on artists, songs, and genres, but also based on metadata tags, such as @work, @gym, #happy, or @driving. Raditaz had a location layer that enables users to listen to and share stations that trending throughout the US. The "explore" feature let a user discover the latest music trends by location. Users could also share songs or stations by email, Facebook, Twitter or Pinterest. Raditaz had more than 23 million songs and used The Echo Nest music intelligence platform for creating stations. When a user input the name of a specific band, artist or song, Raditaz could create a station based on that musician along with similar artists. Users also had the option to add an additional nine artists to customize a station further. Listeners could adjust the popularity level of the artists and songs found within the station. The site went offline in 2012 to undergo a complete makeover, with new features expected. The Raditaz revenue model is location-based advertising, but no target date for ads has been set.
Bloom.fm was a London-based mobile-focused music service which combined free streaming genre and artist based radios, music discovery tools, a local library player and a catalogue of over 22 million tracks. The service allowed users to 'borrow' songs, making them available for offline playback. The maximum number of stored tracks was determined by the subscription level.
Tomsradio.com in an interactive Internet radio station developed in Sweden in 1999 and launched in 2000. A pioneer of streaming playlists, it was a forerunner of Spotify and Pandora Radio. The service was rated ‘Best in the World’ by IDG’s InternetWorld in January 2002. Tomsradio disrupted the Napster scene by providing a legal personalized stream of music for user consumption. Conceived by American ex-pat and Bandit Rock founder Thomas McAlevey in Stockholm, the company was wholly owned by a small group of private investors. The service was licensed by IFPI and allowed access to over 10,000 popular songs. Before going offline in 2003 Tomsradio had more than 40,000 active users.

The service provides over 32 million tracks and allows users to create "music stations" choosing between a mix of up to three artists, or choosing a music genre. In the free version users can create up to 10 personalized stations, look at the stations that are being played nearby in real time, and interact with other users through instant chat. The paid, premium subscription removes advertisements and allows users to create an unlimited number of stations. It was launched in 2009> by Soundtracker, and as of December 2014 the service had 1.3 million registered users. myTuner Radio, or simply myTuner, is an Internet radio app directory/platform owned by AppGeneration – Software Technologies, Lda, a development company based in Porto, Portugal founded by Eduardo Carqueja in October 2010. myTuner Radio has over 50,000 radio stations and one million podcasts from all around the world. On June 7, 2017, AppGeneration announced that its service had over 30 million users and a database with radio stations of 200 countries. my Turner Radio platform is available for the web at mytuner-radio.com, for a suite of mobile apps: iOS, Google Play, Samsung, Huawei, Amazon, Windows Phone; for desktop devices: Web, Windows, and Mac, wearables: Apple Watch and Android Wearables, for connected devices like Apple TV, Samsung TVs, LG TVs, TV sets and set-top boxes with Android TV, Amazon Fire TV, Roku TV and Chromecast, connected cars: Apple Carplay, Android Auto, Bosch mySPIN, Jaguar & Land Rover InControl Apps, and also on home appliances and smart speakers like Alexa and Sonos.
