Radio Today is a 24 hours radio station in Bangladesh that started airing in May 2006. [1] It is currently available in Dhaka, Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Khulna, Bogra, Sylhet, Mymensingh, Barishal, Kushtia, Comilla.
Radio Today started as Bangladesh's first private FM radio station in May 2006, in Dhaka at 89.6 MHz. [2] [3] It received permission from the government in 2002 and started with a 45 million BDT investment. [4] The founding chief executive officer and managing director was Md Rafiqul Haque. [4] [5] Saiful Amin was the editor of Radio Today. [6] On 27 May 2009, Radio Today received government approval to expand to six cities in Bangladesh outside of Dhaka. [7] It is available in Bogra, Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Khulna, and Sylhet. [8]
Radio Today is located in FR Tower in Banani which caught fire on 28 March 2019 stopping the transmission Radio Today. [9] The tower also housed Duronto TV which also stopped its transmission. [9]
In August 2011, a reporter of Radio Today was assaulted by activists of Jagannath University unit of the Bangladesh Chhatra League, a student wing of the governing Awami League, close to the Jatiya Press Club. [10]
Radio Today plays popular Bangladeshi music, classic music, and Hindi songs. [11] Music is featured in programs such as Today's Classic, Morning Crush, School of Rock, Afternoon Cafe, Minner Live, OMG, FM Mama, Movie Madness, HOT FM, Radio Gaan Buzz, [12] The Mastermind Show by Kazi Nipu. Everyday News, airs five times a day giving news updates with Dhakar Chaka giving live traffic updates in between other shows. Morning News, Evening News and other news are also podcast on website on a daily basis. [13] In 2007, it was the only private station to broadcast their own news program. [11] In 2008, it started a joint news program with Voice of America. [14]
Radio Today launched Green Radio program hosted by SK Richard to build up awareness on Global Warming in January 2010. [15] [16] This 'Green News' segment is now podcasting on news section in the Radio Today website. [17]

Bangladesh Television, commonly known by its acronym BTV, is the state-owned television network of Bangladesh. The network was originally established as the East Pakistan branch of PTV in 1964. It is the oldest Bengali-language television network in the world, and is the sister to the radio broadcaster Bangladesh Betar, which, along with BTV, are both owned and operated by the government.
Bangladesh Betar, or BB is the state-owned radio broadcaster of Bangladesh, initially established as the Dhaka station of All India Radio in 1939. It was later made part of Radio Pakistan. The National University of Bangladesh is a public collegiate university of Bangladesh that was established in 1992 by an Act of Parliament as an affiliating university of the country to impart graduate and post-graduate level education to the students through its affiliated colleges, schools and professional institutions throughout the country. It is the second largest university in the world according to enrollment. The headquarters is in Gazipur, on the outskirts of Dhaka. After its establishment it affiliated association degree awarding colleges, where many of them were previously affiliated by the University of Dhaka, University of Rajshahi and University of Chittagong.

The competition featured six franchises and used a tournament format with a double round robin group stage followed by two semi-finals and a final. The season began on 9 February with the final played on 29 February. The competition was won by Dhaka Gladiators.

On 28 March 2019, the FR Tower Fire broke out on the eighth floor of the 22-storey FR Tower in the commercial Banani area of Dhaka, Bangladesh around 1:00 pm BST. It caused 25 deaths and more than 70 others were injured. Duronto TV and Radio Today shut down their transmissions when the fire broke out because both of their offices were situated beside the FR tower.
