Ravi Kinagi (alternative spellings: Rabi Kinagi, Rabi Kinnagi) is an Indian film director, documentary editor, and screenwriter. He works predominantly in Bengali and Odia cinema. [1] [2]

Biography

Ravi Kinagi was born into a Kannada family. He learned the basics of filmmaking from his father Shankar Kinagi who was a producer and director. He was born and brought up in Mumbai. He worked with Rajshri Films when they were making Paheli, Naiyya, and Kanoon Ka Shikar. He also assisted S Ramanathan, Anil Ganguly, and Prashant Nanda. He then directed two Marathi films, Manuski and Halahal. Later he started making Odia films and later shifted to the Bengali film industry. [3]

Bhalobasa Bhalobasa is a 2008 Bengali film by Rabi Kinagi. This movie is the second film of both Hiran Chatterjee and Srabanti Chatterjee. After five-week running success prompted producer Ashok Dhanuka added one more song "Bol Raja Chai Kemon Rani" to the film after shooting it right after Kali Puja. This is the first Bengali film shot in Salzburg, Austria. This film is the remake of the Telugu film Bommarillu directed and co-written by Bhaskar, starring Prakash Raj, Genelia D'Souza and Siddharth Narayan. The film primarily revolves around a father and son relationship with the father's dote on his son, leaving a bitter taste with the latter.

The film follows Ronny, an innocent child living with his father and growing up in foreign, often misses his dead mother Meena. After getting invited in India on the occasion of a marriage ceremony of his mother's cousin in India, he meets his maternal aunt Reena, who resembles his mother as they were the twins. Chandana Sharma is an Indian television actress. She is the daughter of Anjana Bhowmik. Her sister Nilanjana Sharma is also an actress. She made her debut in director Rabi Kinagi's Premi.

Miss Call is a 2021 Indian Bengali movie which was directed by Ravi Kinagi and produced by Nispal Singh under the banner of Surinder Films. This film is a remake of 2015 Kannada film Krishna Leela. This film starred Soham Chakraborty, Rittika Sen and Supriyo Dutta. The film was released in theaters on 26 February 2021.
