Subhashree Ganguly is an Indian actress. She is the winner of Anandalok Nayikar Khonje 2006. [1] [2] [3] [4] She is the highest paid actress of Bengali cinema. [5] [3] [4]

She made her acting debut in 2008 with the Odia comedy drama film Mate Ta Love Helare and subsequently made her debut in Bengali films with Pitribhumi, in which she played a supporting role. [6] Her first starring role in a Bengali film Bajimaat . After this she had Bengali films like Challenge , Paran Jai Jaliya Re (2009), Romeo , Khokababu (2012), Khoka 420 (2013), Boss , Game , Ami Shudhu Cheyechi Tomay (2014), Abhimaan , Boss 2: Back to Rule (2017), Nabab (2017), Chalbaaz (2018), Parineeta (2019).

Early life and background

Subhashree Ganguly was born at Bardhaman, West Bengal, India to Bina and Debaprasd Ganguly. [7] Her mother Bina Ganguly is a house wife and her father Debaprashad Ganguly was a school clerk. [8] She studied at Burdawan Municipal Girl's.

In 2006 she joined the television reality show Anandalok Nayikar Khonje and became the winner. [1] [2] [3] [4] After that she started her career as a model then she made her debut in film industry by an Oriya-film Mate Ta Love Helare in 2008, which was directed by Ashok Pati subsequently she made her debut in Bengali films with Pitribhumi, in which she played a supporting role. [6]

Personal life

In the year 2016 when Ganguly was filming Abhimaan, she had a relationship with the director of the film Raj Chakraborty. On 6 March 2018 they got engaged at Kolkata and were married on 11 May, at Bawali Rajbari. [9] On 12 September 2020 she gave birth to a baby boy. [10] On November 30 2023 they had a baby girl. [11]

Career

After winning Anandalok Nayikar Khonje in 2006, [1] [2] [3] [4] Subhashree made her debut in Oriya films with Mate Ta Love Helare . Subsequently, she made her debut in Bengali films with Pitribhumi, in which she played a supporting role. [6]

She rose to prominence after working with Bengali film actor Dev in films such as Challenge , Khokababu , Khoka 420 , Romeo , Paran Jai Jaliya Re and the unreleased Dhumketu . Khoka 420 and Paran Jai Jaliya Re are ranked among the highest grossing Bengali movies.[ citation needed ]

Her pairing with another Bengali actor Jeet has been equally successful with films like Boss , Game , Abhimaan and Boss 2: Back to Rule . Boss 2: Back to Rule has been ranked among the biggest hits in the history of Bengali cinema.[ citation needed ]

She paired up with Shakib Khan in the films Nabab and Chalbaaz .

In 2019, film Parineeta marked a significant change in her career. Her portrayal of mehul brought her appreciation from critics and she won multiple awards for best actress, including Best Actor In A Leading Role (Female) in Filmfare Awards Bangla. [12] [13]

In 2022, her performance in Boudi Canteen earned her the Filmfare award for Best Actor (Female) Critics. [14] [15]

His first acting assignment was Bishabriksha (1994–95), a Bengali TV series directed by Bishnu Palchaudhuri. He made his big screen debut with Chandu (2001), a Telugu film. And it was launched on ZEE5 for online streaming. The film earned ₹2.3 crore worldwide and Subhashree received Best Actress at West Bengal Film Journalists' Association Awards & Filmfare Best Actress award. The soundtrack Tomake sung by Shreya Ghoshal was one of the most popular Bengali songs of 2019 which also got best song award. Tomake lyrics was written by Arko.

The 4th Filmfare Awards Bangla ceremony, presented by The Times Group, honoured only the best Bengali language Indian films of 2019. 2019 onwards, Filmfare Awards East was discontinued and separate award shows were held for Bengali and Assamese Films as Filmfare Awards Bangla and Filmfare Awards Bangla, respectively. The ceremony was held on 31 March 2021 in Kolkata.

Abar Proloy is a 2023 Bengali crime thriller web series written and directed by Raj Chakraborty and produced by Raj Chakraborty Entertainment and Subhashree Ganguly. The show features an ensemble cast including Paran Bandopadhyay, Saswata Chatterjee, Ritwick Chakraborty, June Maliah, Koushani Mukherjee, Gaurav Chakrabarty, Sohini Sengupta. The series serves as a spin-off of the 2013 film Proloy and was released on the ZEE5 OTT platform on 11 August 2023.
