Rosogolla is a 2018 Indian Bengali historical drama film directed and written by Pavel. Rosogolla marks the big screen debut of Ujaan Ganguly and Abantika Biswas. [3] It is a fictionalized biopic of Nobin Chandra Das, a sweet maker from Kolkata, the inventor of Rosogolla. [4]
Rosogolla is based on the real-life story of the inventor of Bengal's own ‘Rosogolla’. The story revolves around the life and work of Nobin Chandra Das, a young man with a romantic heart and a brilliant mind. Nobin Chandra Das's father dies soon after Nobin's birth and his family faces a financial crisis. Nobin decides to become a sweet maker. With a zeal to create something fresh and unique, Nobin had set his heart on making the most delicious sweet of all time for his wife, Khirodmoni.
After undergoing a lot of trials and tribulations, which even included alienating himself from his loved ones, Das finally emerged victorious and ended up creating one of the best things that could ever happen to all the Bengalis. Failure, misfortune, insult, nothing could stop Nobin. Khirodmoni Devi, his wife. She had the courage to run a business in that era. This invention makes him famous in Bengal. Nobin Chandra Das (1845–1925) was a Bengali confectioner. a popular limerick of 19th-century Bengal labeled him as the "Columbus of Rossogolla".
Krishna Chandra Das (1869–1934), commonly known as K.C. Das, was a Bengali confectioner, entrepreneur, businessman and Bengali cultural icon of the early 20th century. Born in 1869 in Bag bazar, Kolkata, Krishna Chandra was the only son and successor of the Bengali confectioner and sweetmeat inventor Nobin Chandra Das. He developed an electric loom, a soda fountain machine, did extensive research on homeopathy, and researched eastern and western classical music. Krishna Chandra Das became an iconic figure in the 1930s Kolkata as one of the creators of "Rosso Malai" and invention of the vacuum canned "Rosso Golla", which were popularized and promoted throughout India by his family organization K.C. Das Private Limited, founded by Krishna Chandra's son and successor Sarada Charan Das.
Byomkesh was a 2014 Indian Bengali crime fiction television series based on the Bengali sleuth Byomkesh Bakshi created by Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay. The series starred Gaurav Chakrabarty, Saugata Bandyopadhyay and Ridhima Ghosh as Byomkesh Bakshi, Ajit and Satyabati respectively. Karunamoyee Rani Rashmoni was an Indian Bengali historical drama television series which aired on Bengali Entertainment Channel Zee Bangla and is also available on the digital platform ZEE5. It was premiered on 24 July 2017. The serial was earlier produced by Subrata Roy and then it was produced by Zee Bangla. It completed 1,000 episodes on its third birthday and 1,500 episodes on 26 December 2021. After a successful run of 4+1⁄2 years, Karunamoyee Rani Rashmoni went off-air on 13 February 2022.
Netaji is a Bengali biographical soap opera on the life of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose that premiered on 14 January 2019 and aired on Bengali GEC Zee Bangla. Based majorly on Udyata Kharga Subhash by Achintya Kumar Sengupta and produced by Surinder Films, the series stars Abhishek Bose in the eponymous role, with Basabdatta Chatterjee, marking her comeback on television, Dhruvajyoti Sarkar, Kaushik Chakraborty, Sriparna Roy, Debopriyo Sarkar, Sohan Bandopadhyay, Fahim Mirza appearing in other recurring roles. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the shooting of the series was stalled. It was rumoured that along with Karunamoyee Rani Rashmoni, this series will be axed the channel. Putting rest to such rumours, the shooting started from June 11 and new episodes started to air from June 15, 2020. The show went off air on 1st August 2020.
