Anandalok Puraskar or Anandalok Awards ceremony is an award ceremony for Bengali film in India. The Anandalok, only film magazine in Bengali language, published from Ananda Publishers and Ananda Bazar Patrika presents this award (Puraskar). The magazine was started on 25 January 1975 and the awards ceremony was started in 1998.
Deepak Adhikari, known by his stage name Dev, is an Indian actor, producer, singer and screenwriter, known for his works in Bengali cinema and more recently, a politician. He is also a Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha representing Ghatal since 2014, as a candidate from the All India Trinamool Congress party. He owns the production house Dev Entertainment Ventures.
Subhashree Ganguly is an Indian actress who primarily works in Bengali cinema. She is the winner of Anandalok Nayikar Khonje 2006 and one of the highest paid actress of Bengali cinema.
Kalishankar or Kalisankar is an action thriller film in Odia and Bengali language by director Prashanta Nanda in 2007. Kalishankar is quite similar to old Manmohan Desai films wherein brothers separated in childhood grow up to find themselves on two sides of the fence. Then, when they recognise their blood link through a birthmark or a talisman, they join forces to fight the enemy together. Kalishankar is a story of a pair of grandchildren and their grandfather's revenge on their wrongdoers. The film has much stick-wielding action.

Produced by Shrikant Mohta under the banner of Shree Venkatesh Films, the film stars Dev and Subhashree Ganguly in the lead roles, while Rajatava Dutta, Biswajit Chakraborty, Supriyo Dutta, Kharaj Mukherjee, Laboni Sarkar, Tulika Basu and Partha Sarathi Chakraborty play other pivotal roles. The soundtrack of the film was composed by Jeet Gannguli and cinematography was by Somak Mukherjee. The screenplay and dialogues were written by Raj Chakraborty and N. K. Salil.
Paran Jai Jaliya Re is a 2008 Indian Bengali-language romance film directed by Ravi Kinnagi. This film stars Dev and Subhashree Ganguly in the lead roles. It is a remake of 2007 Hindi film Namastey London. Vipul Shah, the director of the original movie filed a case against the producers of Paran Jai Jaliya Re and they gave a penalty of Rs. 75 lakh. In this movie, Dev and Subhashree Ganguly were cast together for the second time after Challenge in 2009.

Romeo is a 2011 Bengali romantic comedy-drama film directed by Sujit Mondal and starring Dev and Subhashree Ganguly in lead roles. It is the third film where Dev and Subhashree Ganguly work together after Challenge and Paran Jai Jaliya Re. The film was released on 4 November 2011 to mixed reviews. It is an official remake of the Telugu blockbuster movie Konchem Ishtam Konchem Kashtam.

Produced by Shrikant Mohta under the banner of Shree Venkatesh Films, the story, screenplay and dialogues of the film were written by N. K. Salil, which itself was inspired from German film Good Bye, Lenin! (2003). It stars Dev, Puja Banerjee, Tapas Paul, Ashish Vidyarthi and in lead roles, alongside, Rajatava Dutta, Kharaj Mukherjee, Subhasish Mukherjee and Kaushik Chakraborty in another pivotal roles, with Biswanath Basu and Labani Sarkar in guest appearances. The film is a spiritual sequel to the 2009 film Challenge, but contains a very different storyline. It revolves around an undercover officer as well as IPS Abhiraj Roy, who is on a mission to bring down the dreaded don Guru Nayak. But all on a sudden tragically he transforms into an MLA to fulfill his father's wish, who was in coma after meeting an conspiring accident as he was an honest and celebrated politician amongst the masses.

The film became a major commercial success and became one of the highest grossing Bengali films of the year.
