On February 21, 2023, the POCO C55 was introduced in India, which differs from the Redmi 12C in the design of the back panel. [7]

Design

The screen is made of glass. The body is made of plastic with a ribbed texture that forms striped patterns on the Redmi 12C and with a leather-like texture on the POCO C55.

The camera island of the Redmi 12C, like its predecessor, is connected to the fingerprint scanner, but this area now has the same color as the body and the area with the cameras resembles that of the Redmi 11 Prime.

POCO C55 has a signature black area for almost the entire width of the body with a logo and a fingerprint scanner.

The microUSB port, unlike the USB-C of its predecessor, speaker and microphone are located below. On top is a 3.5 mm audio jack. On the left side, there is a tray for 2 SIM cards and a microSD format memory card up to 512 GB. On the right side, there is the volume rocker and power button. The fingerprint scanner is located on the back panel.

Redmi 12C is sold in 4 colors: Graphite Gray/Shadow Black (Black), Ocean Blue/Dark Blue (Blue), Mint Green (Green) and Lavander Purple (lavender).

POCO C55 is sold in 3 colors: Power Black (black), Cool Blue (blue), and Forest Green (green).

Redmi 12C was released with MIUI 13 and POCO C55 with MIUI 13 for POCO. Both shells are based on Android 12. Both models later were updated to HyperOS 1 based on Android 14.
