The High end variant Redmi Note 2 Prime, on the other hand, was powered by a MediaTek MT6795 Helio X10 Octa-core 2.2 GHz Cortex-A53 prosessor coupled with 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of Internal Storage.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 runs on Android Lollipop 5.0 on top of MIUI 7 and can be upgraded to MIUI 9. It is also possible to flash a custom ROM [2] with Android 7, [3] 8 [4] or 9, but there is no official support by LineageOS. [5]

The most significant difference from other Xiaomi smartphones is that Redmi uses less expensive components, allowing lower prices while retaining good specifications. In August 2014, The Wall Street Journal reported that in the second quarter of the 2014 fiscal year, Xiaomi had a market share of 14% of the China smartphone market; Redmi sales were attributed as a contributing factor toward this ranking.

Micromax co-founder Rahul Sharma owns a 99% controlling stake in YU while the remaining 1% is held by two other co-founders, Vikas Jain and Sumeet Arora. Later the YU subbrand of Mircromax was discontinued by the brand and the official site redirected to Micromax's official website. YU Televentures was remade on 7 June 2019.
