Renuka Menon (born 3 November 1983) [1] [2] is a former Indian actress who has predominantly appeared in Malayalam and Telugu-language films as well as some Tamil-language and Kannada films. [3]

She made her acting debut in Nammal (2002). [4] [5] Her notable films include Daas (2005), [6] Vargam (2006) [7] and Kalabha Kadhalan (2006). [8] In 2006, Menon retired from acting and currently runs a dance school in California. [9] [10] [11]

Early and personal life

Renuka was born on 3 November 1983 in Alappuzha and also she pursued her Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Thrissur. [12] She married Suraj Menon, a US-based software engineer, on 21 November 2006. They have two daughters, Swathi and Anika. [13] [14]

Career

2002-2004: Early debut and its recognition

At the age of 19, Renuka made her acting debut through Nammal [15] opposite Jishnu Raghavan, Sidharth Bharathan and Bhavana. [16] It was commercially successful and well received by critics. [17] [18]

Then she acted in several films Mayamohithachandran, [19] [20] Freedom [21] and Meerayude Dukhavum Muthuvinte Swapnavum along with Prithviraj. [22] Then, she made her Telugu-language debut in Anandamanandamaye along with Jai Akash and it received positive reviews from critics. [23] [24] [25]

2005-2006: Foray into other industries

In 2005, Menon made her debut Tamil-language and Kannada film debuts in February 14 , [26] alongside Bharath, and News opposite Upendra, [27] respectively. Later that year, she starred in another Tamil film, Daas opposite Jayam Ravi and it was praised by critics. [28] [29]

In 2006, she acted in the Malayalam film Vargam ,[ citation needed ] paired with Prithviraj again after Meerayude Dukhavum Muthuvinte Swapnavum , following which, she appeared in the Tamil film Kalabha Kadhalan [30] opposite Arya and in the multi-starrer Pathaaka . [31]

Daas is a 2005 Indian Tamil-language romantic action film written and directed by newcomer Babu Yogeswaran. The film stars Jayam Ravi and Renuka Menon in lead and Vadivelu, Adithya Menon, Shanmugarajan, Monica, Abhinay, and Salim Ghouse, among others, in supporting roles. The film's score and soundtrack are composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja. The film released on 29 July 2005 to mixed reviews but become a hit.

Kalaabak Kadhalan is a 2006 Indian Tamil-language erotic thriller film directed by debutant Igore, starring Arya, Renuka Menon, and Akshaya. This film was a low-budget production, and the soundtrack was composed by Niru. It enjoyed relatively quiet success. It shared a similar storyline to S. J. Suryah’s Vaali and another 2006 film called Uyir. The film was released on 17 February 2006.

Kayal is a 2021 Indian Tamil-language television series starring Chaitra Reddy and Sanjeev Karthik, which itself loosely based on Tamil movie Manathil Urudhi Vendum. Kayal, a nurse, is the sole breadwinner of her family with two siblings where she has an 1 elder brother Moorthy youngest brother Anbuselvan and 2 younger sisters Anandhi and Devi siblings. She finds happiness in her sacrifice to meet the needs of her brothers Moorthy and Anbuselvan and sisters Anandhi and Devi.
