Ritu Pathak (born 4 September 1987) is a Bollywood playback singer. Born in Gopalganj, India, she rose to fame after participating in the second season of Indian Idol . She was one of the finalists in another TV music talent show, Fame X. [1] She has recorded numerous songs with many prominent composers, such as Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy, Sajid–Wajid and Anand Raj Anand.

Early life

Pathak was born in a village in Gopalganj, Seoni Madhya Pradesh. [1] Her father was a singer who performed at local orchestras and small gatherings. She was encouraged by him to pursue a career in music and he used to take her to participate in reality singing shows. [2] She got her first vocal lessons in Nagpur [3] and she received Hindustani classical vocal training from Sangit Mahabharti. [4]

Career

Pathak participated in singing talent show Fame X on the suggestion of Sonia Rao, who was a judge on the show. [5] She gained recognition from her performance in the show; and afterwards met Anand Raj Anand and began singing scratches for presentations.

In 2010, Pathak met Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy who selected her to sing the Papa Jag Jaayega, for the film Housefull. After that, she worked with composer Pritam Chakraborty to sing the song Razia Gundo Mein Phans Gayi from film Thank You and other songs from Hello Darling and Action Replayy. [6] She went on to work with Anand Raj Anand to sing Jalebi Bai for the filmDouble Dhamaal, which is one of her most popular songs to date.[ citation needed ]

Pathak has also worked with Sajid–Wajid in many songs, such as Radha Nachegi in Tevar. [3] [7]

Pathak has sung playback for the actress Sonakshi Sinha on many occasions, such as in the song Gandi Baat from R. Rajkumar. [8] [9]

Pathak has also sung Lip to Lip (from Katti Batti), DJ Bajega To Pappu Nachega (from Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon) Cinema Dekhe Mamma (from Singh Is Bliing). Having worked with so many composers, she wishes to sing for the maestro A. R. Rahman one day. [10] [11]

In 2012, Pathak hosted the show ‘Retrospective Special’ which was broadcast on DD1 which features interesting trivia about movies from the golden era. [10] She has performed in live shows in numerous events in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Raipur, Udaipur and other major Indian cities.[ citation needed ] She has also performed in Poland, Muscat, Rangoon, Kathmandu and Malaysia and China. [1] She toured to Australia & Fiji Island with Johnny Lever, Priyanka Chopra & Abhijeet Sawant. In 2007, she did a show in Israel with Johnny Lever. [4]

Pathak was nominated in the Stardust Awards in 2012 for the category New Musical Sensation - Female for the song Jalebi Bai in the film Double Dhamaal). [12]

It was released worldwide on 31 December 2010. The song has three different versions in Hindi, Bengali and Sinhalese, as Bangladesh, India and Sri Lanka co-hosted the event. <i>Tevar</i> 2015 Indian film

Tevar (transl. Attitude) is a 2015 Indian Hindi-language action film directed by debutante Amit Ravindernath Sharma and produced by Boney Kapoor, Sanjay Kapoor, Sunil Lulla, Naresh Agarwal and Sunil Manchanda, based on a script by Sharma and Shantanu Shrivastav. The Mirchi Music Award for Music Composer of The Year is given yearly by Radio Mirchi as a part of its annual Mirchi Music Awards for Hindi films, to recognise a music director who has delivered an outstanding performance in a film song.

The 4th Mirchi Music Awards, presented by the Radio Mirchi, honoured the best of Hindi music from the year 2011. The ceremony was held on 21 March 2012 at the Bhavan's College Ground (Andheri), Mumbai and was hosted by Shaan and Usha Uthup. There were many performances, including those by Saif Ali Khan, Parikrama, Shreya Ghoshal, Bappi Lahiri and Mika Singh. There was a live jugalbandi featuring Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy, Lalit Pandit, Salim–Sulaiman, Ram Sampath, Sajid–Wajid and Leslie Lewis. Ash King, Harshdeep Kaur, Neha Bhasin, Anushka Manchanda, Tochi Raina, Shweta Pandit, Dominique and Clinton Cerejo, Kamal Khan, Suman Shridhar, Shefali Alvares, Benny Dayal and Ritu Pathak also performed during the award show. Rockstar won a leading five awards including Album of the Year. Song of the Year went to "Senorita" from Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. The show was broadcast on 31 March 2012 on Colors.
