Robert Ezell (born November 3, 1988) is an American college football coach and former player. He is the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the University of South Alabama, a position he has held since 2024.
Ezell attended Athens High School in Athens, Alabama where he played quarterback, helping the Golden Eagles win the school's first Class 5A state championship title in 30 years during his senior year in 2006 and was named the MVP of the game. [1]
Ezell played quarterback and wide receiver at the University of Alabama from 2007 to 2010 as a walk-on. [2]
Ezell started his college coaching career as a student assistant at Alabama in 2011. [3]
From 2012 to 2014, Ezell served as a graduate assistant for the Colorado State Rams while going on to receive his master's degree in adult education. [4] He worked with the wide receivers and quarterbacks helping them with a 18–9 overall record and an 11–5 conference record in his last two seasons along with a 48–45 victory in the 2013 New Mexico Bowl against Washington State. Ezell then returned to Alabama where he served as a graduate assistant from 2015 to 2016 [5] where he aided current Miami (FL) coach Mario Cristobal with the offensive line and tight ends. [2]
He then served as an offensive analyst from 2017 to 2020 [6] where the team played a 65–5 overall record and a 39–3 conference record along with winning two College Football Playoff National Championship titles in 2017 and 2020. [7]
On December 21, 2020, Ezell was named as the tight ends coach at South Alabama, joining Kane Wommack's new coaching staff. [8] During his first season with the Jaguars, he helped tight end Lincoln Sefcik earn the third team All-Sun Belt honors with 32 receptions for 218 yards and five touchdowns which was the highest total recorded by an individual as a tight end since Gerald Everett. On February 5, 2024, he was promoted as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. [10]
Ezell is known for his impersonation of former Alabama head coach, Nick Saban. [11]
Michael Rene Mularkey is an American former professional football coach and tight end in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the University of Florida, and was drafted in the ninth round of the 1983 NFL draft by the San Francisco 49ers and lasted until the final round of cuts. Mularkey then signed with the Minnesota Vikings with whom he played for six seasons before playing another three with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Major Lee Applewhite is an American football coach and former player who has been the head coach for the South Alabama Jaguars since January of 2024. Prior to that he was the head coach at the University of Houston from 2017 to 2018, where he previously served as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. He started his coaching career in 2003 and in addition to South Alabama and Houston he has held various positions at Texas, Syracuse, Rice and Alabama.
Mike Shula is an American football coach who is the Offensive Analyst for the South Carolina Gamecocks of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). He played college football as a quarterback for the Alabama Crimson Tide and was the school's head coach from 2003 to 2006. He was the offensive coordinator for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 1996 to 1999, the Carolina Panthers from 2013 to 2017, and the New York Giants from 2018 to 2019.
Douglas Keith Nussmeier is an American football coach and former player who is the quarterbacks coach for the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League (NFL). He played professionally as a quarterback in the NFL and Canadian Football League (CFL). Nussmeier played college football for the Idaho Vandals football, winning the Walter Payton Award as the most outstanding offensive player in NCAA Division I-AA. He was selected by the New Orleans Saints in the fourth round of the 1994 NFL draft. He finished his playing career with the CFL's BC Lions.
Derek Dooley is an American football coach and former player who last served as a senior offensive analyst for the Alabama Crimson Tide. He served as the head football coach at Louisiana Tech University from 2007 to 2009 and the University of Tennessee from 2010 to 2012.
Brian Michael Daboll is a Canadian-American professional football coach who is the head coach of the New York Giants of the National Football League (NFL). He previously served as the offensive coordinator for the Cleveland Browns, Miami Dolphins, Kansas City Chiefs, Alabama Crimson Tide, and Buffalo Bills. Daboll has also served in various capacities as an assistant coach for the New England Patriots from 2000 to 2006 and again from 2013 to 2016.

He previously served as the tight ends coach at the University of Washington and was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at the Indiana University. He played college football for Michigan.

Jerry Mack is an American college football coach and former player. He is the running backs coach at the University of Tennessee, a position he has held since 2021. Mack served as the head football coach at North Carolina Central University from 2014 to 2017, compiling a record of 31–15 in four seasons. He was the offensive coordinator and associate football head coach at Rice University prior to his hiring at Tennessee. Mack played college football as a wide receiver at Jackson State University and Arkansas State University.
Jake Peetz is an American football coach who is the pass game coordinator for the Seattle Seahawks of the National Football League (NFL). He previously served as an assistant coach for the Los Angeles Rams, Carolina Panthers, Oakland Raiders, Washington Redskins and Jacksonville Jaguars. He also coached collegiately at Alabama and at LSU where he was offensive coordinator. Peetz has worked for three head coaches twice in his career: Nick Saban (Alabama), Sean McVay, and Jack Del Rio.

This season marked the Crimson Tide's 124th overall season, 85th as a member of the Southeastern Conference (SEC), and 27th within the SEC Western Division. They played their home games at Bryant–Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Alabama and were led by twelfth-year head coach Nick Saban.

William Hall Napier is an American football coach currently serving as head coach at the University of Florida. From 2017 until 2021, he was head coach at the University of Louisiana, amassing a 40–12 record in four seasons with three consecutive 10+ win seasons and two seasons finishing in the AP Poll, both firsts in the program's history.
