History
The first international sevens championship for women's teams from North America and the Caribbean was held in Barbados in 2005. The tournament was run by the North America and West Indies Rugby Association (NAWIRA), which later became the North America Caribbean Rugby Association (NACRA) before adopting its current name of Rugby Americas North in 2016. The regional 7s championships have periodically served as pre-qualifying competitions for the Rugby World Cup Sevens, the Summer Olympic Games, and other tournaments.
The following are details of all regional women's international championships played in North America and the Caribbean, listed chronologically with the earliest first, with all result details, where known (included are the NACRA Women's Sevens and other official regional championships, e.g. NAWIRA Women's Sevens tournaments).
USA Rugby is the national governing body for the sport of rugby union in the United States. Its role is to achieve and maintain “high levels of quality in all aspects of rugby." USA Rugby is responsible for the promotion and development of the sport in the U.S., and promotion of U.S. international participation.

The 2013 Rugby World Cup Sevens was the sixth edition of the Rugby World Cup Sevens. The tournament was held at Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow, Russia. New Zealand won the tournament, defeating England 33–0 in the final. Attendance for the tournament was poor, with matches played in mostly empty stadiums.
Rugby union in the British Virgin Islands is a minor but growing sport. They currently have around 440 registered players.

The Bahamas is a small, but emerging rugby sevens nation with four players currently (2009) on the West Indies Sevens squad. Ranked 5th in the Caribbean after the NAWIRA Sevens which were held in Nassau in November 2008. The Bahamas Men & women competed in the Caribbean Championship in Mexico in November 2009.
The RAN Women's Rugby Championship is the regional championship for women's international rugby union in North America and the Caribbean that is sanctioned by RAN.
The Asia Rugby Women's Sevens Series is the regional championship for women's international rugby sevens in Asia. Initially contested as a single tournament, the championship was expanded into a two-tournament series in 2014. The competition is sanctioned and sponsored by Asia Rugby, which is the rugby union governing body for the region.
The Africa Women's Sevens is the continental championship for women's international rugby sevens in Africa. The tournament sanctioned and sponsored by Rugby Africa which is the rugby union governing body for the continent.
The Rugby Europe Women's Sevens, previously the FIRA–AER Women's Sevens until 2013, is a series of regional championships for women's international rugby sevens in Europe. Prior to 2012, the annual tournament is held over two days, typically on a weekend in June, before the highest category tournament was reorganized as the Sevens Grand Prix Series, modeled after the format of the World Rugby Sevens Series. The tournaments are sanctioned and sponsored by Rugby Europe.
The United States women's national rugby sevens team competes in international rugby sevens competitions. The team finished second at the 2015 USA Women's Sevens, after defeating Russia in the semifinals. They competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics.
The 2013 NACRA Women's Sevens was the ninth tournament of the North America and Caribbean Women's Sevens Championship, the official rugby sevens continental championships organized by NACRA. Both the women's and men's competitions were held at the George Town which was in the Cayman Islands. It was held on 9–10 November. The stadium was the Truman Bodden Stadium as it was also a qualification tournament for the Central America and Caribbean Games which would be held in Mexico.
The Saint Kitts and Nevis Rugby Association is the rugby governing body in Saint Kitts and Nevis. Based in Basseterre, it was founded in 2008. The association became affiliated to the North America Caribbean Rugby Association in the following year, but it is not currently a member of World Rugby.
Kelly Griffin is an American rugby sevens player and Olympian. As a member of the United States women's national rugby sevens team, she won a bronze medal at the 2013 Rugby World Cup Sevens, and a silver medal at the 2015 Pan American Games. She was also captain of the United States Women's Rugby Sevens team for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The Cayman Islands women's national rugby sevens team represents the Cayman Islands in international sevens rugby. They often compete in the RAN Women's Sevens tournaments.
The 2008 NAWIRA Women's Sevens was a regional qualifying tournament for the inaugural 2009 Women's Rugby World Cup Sevens and was held from 24 to 26 October at the Winton Rugby Club in Nassau, Bahamas. Champions, Canada, and runner-up, the United States, qualified for the World Cup.
The 2012 NACRA Women's Sevens was a regional qualifying tournament for the 2013 Rugby World Cup Sevens and was held on 25 and 26 August 2012 at the Twin Elm Rugby Park in Ottawa. There were five teams that competed for the single qualifying spot, the United States did not compete as they had already qualified by reaching the semifinals of the 2009 Rugby World Cup Sevens in Dubai. The tournament was played as a round-robin with a playoff among the top four finishing teams. Canada qualified for the Sevens World Cup after defeating Trinidad and Tobago in the final.
