Sagar Puranik is a National Award winning director and actor who predominantly works in Kannada film and Television industry. Sagar made his film debut with Ring Road Suma (2015), [2] which is notable for, it was made by an all-women crew, the first in Kannada language. [3] [4] [1] He was selected as the best debut director (Kannada) in the 11th South Indian International Movie Awards for Dollu, the film won two awards for Best Feature Film – Kannada. Early and personal life

Sagar was born in 1992. He has completed his PU from Jain University, Bengaluru and obtained his degree from PES University, Bengaluru.[ citation needed ]

Career

Sagar started his acting career when he was 5 years old with Nargund Baba Saheb, a TV serial about freedom fighters from Karnataka and in TV serial Chirasmarane both by Doordarshan. Thereafter, a bi-lingual TV serial, titled Natyarani Shantala directed by G. V. Iyer. He appeared in TV serials titled Rajkumari directed by Shruthi Naidu for Zee Kannada, Anju Mallige in Kasturi Channel, Thangali and Madarangi for Udaya TV directed by B. Suresha, Mahasati for Udaya TV directed by Suneel Puranik. In 2015, Sagar acted in the hit film Ring Road Suma. His non-featured short film on Bhagat Singh won Special Mention Award in 66th National Film Awards, 2019. [9]

Kannada cinema, also known as Sandalwood, or Chandanavana, is the segment of Indian cinema dedicated to the production of motion pictures in the Kannada language widely spoken in the state of Karnataka. Puneeth Rajkumar, colloquially known as Appu, was an Indian actor, philanthropist, playback singer, television presenter and producer, who worked in Kannada cinema. He was the youngest son of actor and matinee idol Dr. Rajkumar. He was one of the most popular actors in Kannada cinema. He appeared as a lead in 32 films. As a child, he appeared in many films. His performances as a child actor in Vasantha Geetha (1980), Bhagyavantha (1981), Chalisuva Modagalu (1982), Eradu Nakshatragalu (1983), Bhakta Prahaladha (1983), Yarivanu (1984) and Bettada Hoovu (1985) were praised. He won the National Film Award for Best Child Artist for his role of Ramu in Bettada Hoovu. He also won Karnataka State Award Best Child artist for Chalisuva Modagalu and Eradu Nakshatragalu. Puneeth's first lead role was in 2002's Appu. In a career spanning three decades, he has won one National Film Award, four Karnataka State Film Awards, six Filmfare Awards South and five SIIMA awards. He was conferred with the Doctorate by Mysuru University. The Karnataka Government conferred the state's highest civilian award, Karnataka Ratna, to Puneeth Rajkumar on 1 November 2022, posthumously.

Nagathihalli Chandrashekhar is an Indian director, actor, screenwriter and a lyricist who predominantly works in Kannada Cinema. He made his film debut as a screenplay writer in Kadina Benki (1986) which won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film and the Karnataka State Award. His directorial debut was Undu Hoda Kondu Hoda (1991) for which he won the Karnataka State Film Award for Best Story.

Ring Road is a 2015 Indian Kannada crime drama film directed by Priya Belliappa and produced by Ranjini Ravindra Das. It stars Altmash Shakreen in the lead role. The supporting cast features Nikita Thukral, Duniya Vijay, Avinash, Malavika Avinash, Patre Ajith, Shrunga B. V. and Sagar Puranik. The film is based loosely on the infamous murder of software engineer Girish by his fiancée Shubha in Bangalore in 2003. The film was produced by an all-women crew, a first in Kannada-language cinema.

Mahaan Hutatma is a 2018 Kannada-language short film directed by Sagar Puranik and produced by Akshay Chandrashekhar, under the banners of Akshay Entertainment in Associate with Puranik Productions. Starring Akshay Chandrashekhar, Sagar Puranik, Adhvithi Shetty and Srinath, It is the first Kannada-language short film to win National Film Award – Special Mention for a non-feature film.

Dollu is a 2022 Indian Kannada-language drama film written and directed by Sagar Puranik and produced by Pawan Wadeyar and Apeksha Purohit under the banner of Wadeeyar Movies. The film stars Karthik Mahesh, Nidhi Hegde, Chandra Mayura and Babu Hirannaiah.

Karthik Mahesh is an Indian actor and model. His popularity increased after he won Bigg Boss Kannada on 28 January 2024. He has acted in both Kannada and Telugu tele serials. He became popular as Chandru in the Zee Kannada television soap Puttakkana Makkalu.
