Salmon River is a small community in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia, located in Richmond County.
The Gulf of St. Lawrence is the outlet of the North American Great Lakes via the St. Lawrence River into the Atlantic Ocean. The gulf is a semi-enclosed sea, covering an area of about 226,000 square kilometres (87,000 sq mi) and containing about 34,500 cubic kilometres (8,300 cu mi) of water, at an average depth of 152 metres (500 ft).
The Hammond River is a tributary of the Kennebecasis River in New Brunswick, Canada. It runs approximately 40 kilometres (25 mi) in southern Kings County along the border of Saint John County. It rises in the Caledonia Highlands near the rural community of Hammondvale and runs in a westerly direction to its junction with the Kennebecasis River. Near the mouth of the river, at the rural community of Nauwigewauk, the river is joined by a short tributary draining Darlings Lake.
The Chéticamp River is a river on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, located at the western entrance to Cape Breton Highlands National Park which includes Acadian Trail. According to estimates by the Province of Nova Scotia, there are 2,650 people resident within the Chéticamp watershed in 2011.

Onslow is a rural, unincorporated Canadian community in central Colchester County, Nova Scotia. The community is located along the north bank of the Salmon River, opposite the town of Truro and is largely a farming area. The area was first settled by Acadians and resettled after their expulsion as Onslow Township in 1761 by Irish emigrants under Colonel McNutt. The township is believed to have been named after Arthur Onslow.
The Kennetcook River is a river that flows through Hants County, Nova Scotia. From headwaters near the mouth of the Shubenacadie River, the Kennetcook traverses about 45 kilometres of mostly rural terrain, discharging into the Avon River at Windsor. The Kennetcook cuts through fossiliferous limestone rocks for part of its length. A tidal river near its mouth, the Kennetcook experiences a tidal bore which may be seen at Scotch Village. It is a known salmon river popular with anglers.
The St. Croix River is a river in Nova Scotia entirely contained in Hants and Halifax Counties. Its headwaters are Panuke Lake. The river has been exploited for water power. There were water mills in the nineteenth century and in the 1930s three hydroelectric dams were built; they still operate.
Melrose is a small community in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia, located in the Municipality of the District of Saint Mary's in Guysborough County. Located on the once famous for her Atlantic salmon St. Mary's River where the East and West branches meet at Silver's Pool. Because of the nature of the hills along the river at this pool one can find a stand of old growth untouched white pine and hemlock that rivals the beauty of Stanley Park. Melrose proper borders the Cumminger and Glenelg Lakes as well as the Gulch. It with the neighbouring communities of Aspen and Glenelg constitute what is known locally as "the loop".

The Bear River is a minor river in western Nova Scotia, Canada. Flowing from south to north, it is 40 kilometres (25 mi) long from its headwaters to its discharge into the Annapolis Basin, some 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) east of Digby. The river is tidal for the last 9.7 kilometres (6.0 mi) of its length. The village of Bear River is situated near the head of the tide where shipbuilding took place in the nineteenth century.
Fort Ellis was a British fort or blockhouse built during the French and Indian War, located at the junction of the Shubenacadie and Stewiacke Rivers, close to Stewiacke, Nova Scotia, Canada. The location was labelled Ville Pierre Hebert by Charles Morris. The 14 Acadian families in the area vacated with the Acadian Exodus. Charles Morris recommended a Fort on the Shubenacadie River in 1753. Governor Lawrence first considered the fort in 1754 as a means to protect Halifax from Mi'kmaq raids. Lawrence decided the fort would not be effective until after the Battle of Fort Beauséjour. The fort was completed on October 18, 1761, shortly after the Halifax Treaties were signed. The fort was to guard the new road built to connect Truro and Halifax against Mi'kmaq raids. The fort was called Fort Ellis after Governor Henry Ellis, who was appointed governor weeks after the forts completion. The fort was never garrisoned and eventually abandoned in 1767. Fort Belcher, named after Governor Jonathan Belcher, was built on Salmon River in Lower Onslow, Nova Scotia (1761–67). Fort Franklin was built at Tatamagouche in 1768, named after Michael Francklin and lasted only a year. Fort Morris was named after Charles Morris.
