Sam Yingling (born July 4,1980) is an American politician from Lake County,Illinois. A Democrat,he is a former member of the Illinois House of Representatives from the 62nd district. A resident of Grayslake,he served as the Avon Township Supervisor prior to his election to the legislature.
The 62nd district includes all or parts of Gages Lake,Grayslake,Hainesville,Long Lake,Round Lake,Round Lake Beach,Round Lake Park,Third Lake and Wauconda. [1]
Yingling is a third generation resident of Lake County. After graduating from Carmel Catholic High School,he attended DePaul University,where he studied public administration and metropolitan land use. He then started a small business with his father. [2] He later served as the President of the Round Lake Area Chamber of Commerce and as a member of the Round Lake Beach Cultural/Civic Center Foundation and an immigrant help organization,the Mano A Mano Family Resource Center. [3]
Unhappy with the services that were being provided,Yingling ran for and was elected Avon Township Supervisor in 2009. As township supervisor he was the chief executive officer,chairman of the board of trustees and treasurer of all funds including all bridge and road funds. He handled the daily operations of the administration building. [4]
During his time as supervisor he was an advocate for effective spending and efficient government. He led the township officials in cutting their own salaries by returning a raise implemented under his predecessor, [5] reduced the budget without cutting services, [6] and lobbied Springfield legislators to make it easier for voters to eliminate his job. [7]
He was the first openly gay person elected to the legislature from outside of Chicago and as of 2013 [update] was one of four then serving in the general assembly. The other three were Deb Mell,Greg Harris and Kelly Cassidy. [8] He is the fifth LGBT representative ever elected. [9] His associated state senator is Melinda Bush. During the push for passage of the Illinois marriage equality bill in 2013,he played an important role building support within his freshman class and among legislators from outside Chicago. The marriage equality bill passed the Illinois House on November 5,2013 and was signed into law by Governor Pat Quinn on November 20,2013. [10] Immediately following the passage of the Illinois marriage equality bill on Nov. 5,2013,Yingling proposed to his partner,Chicago businessman Lowell Jaffe,at an afterparty held by Gov. Pat Quinn at the executive mansion. [11] They married in November 2015.

Robert "Bob" Rita is a Democratic member of the Illinois House of Representatives for the 28th District since January 8, 2003. Rita is also the Calumet Township Democratic committeeman and a trustee on the township board. His state representative district includes parts of Chicago's 9th and 34th wards, as well as several suburbs. Rita lists economic redevelopment, equitable school funding and increased health care availability as his top priorities in the state legislature. Rita is an Operating Engineer and a member of Local #150. He is currently being investigated for felony intimidation following an incident in Orland Park, IL on October 4. 2023.
Palos Township is one of 29 townships in Cook County, Illinois. As of the 2020 census, its population was 56,836, with its most populous municipality being Palos Hills. The vast majority of the township's population resides in its eastern half; the half west of La Grange Road consists of the Palos Forest Preserves, a section of the Cook County Forest Preserves. In 1850 the small town of Trenton, Illinois changed its name to Palos; this recommendation was made by M.S. Powell, the local postmaster, whose ancestor supposedly sailed with Christopher Columbus from Palos de la Frontera. When it incorporated as a village in 1914, Palos officially became Palos Park. Nearby communities incorporated later: Hickory Hills, in 1951, and Palos Hills, in 1958. All three municipalities lie completely or substantially within Palos Township. Palos Heights, partially in Worth Township, incorporated in 1959.

Kelly Cassidy is an American politician from Chicago. She is a Democrat and a member of the Illinois House of Representatives. She was appointed to represent the 14th district, on Chicago's North Side, in April 2011 following incumbent Harry Osterman's election to the Chicago City Council. She took office on May 16, 2011. Most notably Kelly Cassidy was the chief sponsor of House Bill 1438, making Illinois the first state to legalize the Adult-Use of Cannabis through legislature as opposed to a ballot measure.
