The Saudi Federation For Cybersecurity, Programming and Drones (SAFCSP) is a national institution in Saudi Arabia aiming at developing professional skills in the fields of cybersecurity and programming. [1] [2]
SAFCSP is associated with the Saudi Arabian Olympic Committee and governed by the board of directors that is chaired by Faisal Al-Khamisi. [3] [1]
In 2018, SAFCSP organized the Hajj Hackathon event in Jeddah, west of Saudi Arabia, with 2,950 participants from over 100 countries. [4] With this number of participants, SAFCSP broke the Guinness World Record for 'Most participants in a hackathon'. [5]
In 2019, SAFCSP has introduced Bug Bounty, a rewards platform that aims at exploiting the capabilities of individual talents and research to detect and discover vulnerabilities in software and websites of organizations. [6]

Junction is a hackathon organizer with headquarters Espoo, Finland. Started in 2015, Junction grew to be one of the largest organizers in Europe. In 2018 it expanded globally with a Junction event at Tsinghua University in China and cooperation with Chinese and South Korean universities bringing high performing students to attend the event in Helsinki.

The COVID-19 pandemic affected the 2020 Hajj (pilgrimage), which is the fifth pillar of the Five Pillars of Islam, where millions of Muslims from around the world visit Mecca and Medina every year during Hajj season for a week. Over 2,400,000 pilgrims attended Hajj in 2019. Due to the highly contagious nature of COVID-19 in crowded places, various international travel restrictions, and social distancing recommendations, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah advised Muslims to postpone their pilgrimage until the pandemic was mitigated. However, in June 2020, the Ministry opened up Hajj to people of all nationalities residing in Saudi Arabia, with foreigners still banned from attending to ensure pilgrims' safety and prevent the transmission of COVID-19.

The Prince Mohammed Bin Salman College for Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technologies is a higher education technological college in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Established by Saud al-Qahtani in 2018, it is named after Mohammed bin Salman, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia since 2017. It is the first academic institute in Saudi Arabia dedicated for the study of cybersecurity and artificial intelligence.
