The Saudi Second Division, also known as the Second Division League (SDL), [1] is a football league that is the third tier of the Saudi Arabian football league system. The league consists of 32 teams divided into two groups and was founded in 1976.

Promotion and relegation

The top 3 teams are promoted to the First Division League. The first two teams of each group will advance directly to the First Division League, and the second two teams of each group will compete in two round-trip matches, and the winning team will advance to the First Division League as the third team. The bottom two clubs of each group are relegated to the Third Division League.

Besides football, the club also consists of various other departments including karate, handball, taekwondo, volleyball, water polo, basketball and cycling. Wej Sports Club is a Saudi Arabian professional football club based in Al Hawiyah, Ta'if, that competes in the Saudi First Division, second tier of the Saudi Arabian football league system, formed in 1976.

The 2019–20 Saudi Second Division was the 44th season of the Saudi Second Division since its establishment in 1976. Fixtures were released on 5 August 2019 and the opening round of matches was played on 11 October 2019. The league season was scheduled to conclude on 10 April 2020 with the final but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Saudi Arabia.

UAE Second Division League is the third tier of football league competition in the United Arab Emirates, the league is organised by UAE Football Association for private funded clubs and universities with amateur teams. The league was established in 2019. The league featured 10 teams who played each other twice in its first season however, due to the COVID-19 pandemic in the United Arab Emirates, the UAE footballing season was cancelled and declared a void and all results were null. The UAE FA set a strategy to support featuring more privately owned clubs and football academies in the UAE Football Pyramid. Ahead of the 2022–23 season, the UAE FA confirmed that the format of league will remain as 12 teams, with the introduction of the UAE Third Division League with a promotion-relegation system.

The 2020–21 Saudi Second Division was the 45th season of the Saudi Second Division since its establishment in 1976. The season started on 30 October 2020 as a consequence of the postponement of the previous season's conclusion due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The group stage draw was held on 22 September 2020. The final was played on 19 April 2021 between Al-Akhdoud and Al-Orobah. Al-Akhdoud defeated Al-Orobah 4–2 on penalties to win their second title and first since 1992.

The Lebanese Second Division is the second division of Lebanese football. It is controlled by the Lebanese Football Association. The top two teams qualify for the Lebanese Premier League and replace the relegated teams, while the bottom two are relegated to the Lebanese Third Division. The league was initially scheduled to start in September, before being postponed to 2 October as part of preventive measures by the state towards the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Iraqi First Division League is a football league that is the third tier of the Iraqi football league system. The league consists of 26 teams and was founded in 1974. The number of clubs in the league have varied throughout history for various reasons. The top two teams are promoted directly to the Iraqi Premier Division League, while 10 teams are relegated directly to the Iraqi Second Division League. Al-Nairyah won their first promotion to the Saudi Second Division during the 2020–21 season after reaching the semi-finals of the Saudi Third Division. The club also consists of two other departments, table tennis and volleyball.

Al-Saqer Football Club is a Saudi Arabian football club based in Al Basr, Buraidah and competes in the Saudi Second Division, the third tier of Saudi football. The club was founded in 1984 and its current president is Fahad Al-Mohaimeed. Al-Saqer won their first promotion to the Saudi Second Division during the 2020–21 season after reaching the semi-finals of the Saudi Third Division. Al-Rayyan won their first promotion to the Saudi Second Division during the 2020–21 season after reaching the semi-finals of the Saudi Third Division. The club also consists of various other departments including, basketball, table tennis, and handball. The club's current president is Mohammed bin Dhaidan Al-Tamimi.

The 2021–22 Iraqi Second Division League was the 48th season of what is now called the Iraqi First Division League, the third tier of the Iraqi football league system, since its establishment in 1974. The number of clubs in the league have varied throughout history for various reasons; in this season the number of clubs was 112. The top four teams in the Final Qualifiers were promoted directly to the Iraqi First Division League, while the last eighteen teams in the Qualifiers within the Governorates were relegated directly to the Iraqi Third Division League. The season started on 10 November 2021.

Jerash FC is a Saudi Arabian football club based in Ahad Rafidah, Asir and competes in the Saudi Second Division, the third tier of Saudi football. The club was founded in 1979 by Dalim bin Saad Al-Qahtani.

Al-Shaeib FC is a Saudi Arabian football club based in Huraymila, Riyadh and competes in the Saudi Second Division, the third tier of Saudi football. The club also consists of other departments including table tennis, volleyball and swimming. The club was founded in 1978 by Hamad Al-Qadeer.

Al Qous Club is a Saudi Arabian football club based in Al Khurmah, Mecca and competes in the Saudi Second Division, the third tier of Saudi football. The club was founded in 1984 and consists of various other departments including table tennis, volleyball, and weightlifting.
