Scapterus is a genus in the ground beetle family Carabidae. There are about five described species in Scapterus. [1] [2]
These five species belong to the genus Scapterus:
Limonia acidissima is the only species within the monotypic genus Limonia. Common names for the species in English include wood-apple and elephant-apple. It is sometimes also called monkey fruit.
Oodes is a genus of ground beetles in the family Carabidae, found worldwide.
Sphindidae is a family of beetles, in the suborder Polyphaga. They are called slime mold beetles due to their exclusive feeding on slime molds during adult and larval stages, other aspects of their life history are obscure. Palaeontological discoveries since 2015 have added to the geologic history of Sphindidae, including the discovery of Libanopsis, placed in the extinct subfamily Libanopsinae.
Camptodontornis is an extinct genus of enantiornithine bird which existed in what is now Chaoyang in Liaoning Province, China during the early Cretaceous period. It is known from a well-preserved skeleton including a skull found in the Jiufotang Formation of Liaoning Province. Its original generic name was "Camptodontus" ; it was named by Li Li, En-pu Gong, Li-dong Zhang, Ya-jun Yang and Lian-hai Hou in 2010. However, the name had previously been used for a genus of beetle. The type species is "Camptodontus" yangi. Demirjian (2019) coined a replacement generic name Camptodontornis. The status of C. yangi as a distinct species is disputed, with Wang et al. (2015) considering it to be a probable synonym of Longipteryx chaoyangensis.
Dailodontus is a genus in the ground beetle family Carabidae. There are at least two described species in Dailodontus, found in South America.
Pheropsophus is a genus of ground beetles in the family Carabidae. It is considered a sister group of the genus Pheropsophidius within the subtribe Pheropsophina.
Carabinae is a subfamily of ground beetles in the family Carabidae, containing ten genera and over fourteen hundred described species. It has two tribes, the Cychrini Laporte (1834) and Carabini Latreille (1802). The latter is divided into two subtribes, the Carabina Latreille (1802) and Ceroglossina Vacher de Lapouge (1927).
Callytron is a genus in the beetle family Cicindelidae. There are about 11 described species in Callytron.
Therates is a genus of tiger beetles found in South and Southeast Asia. A study of two species in the Philippines suggests that females tend to be larger with wider elytra width.
Hexagonia is a genus of ground beetles in the family Carabidae. There are more than 40 described species in Hexagonia, found in Asia and Africa.
Cratognathus is a genus in the ground beetle family Carabidae. There are about five described species in Cratognathus, found in Africa.
Dioryche is a genus in the beetle family Carabidae. There are about 19 described species in Dioryche.
Oosoma is a genus in the ground beetle family Carabidae. There are at least two described species in Oosoma.
Cyclosomus is a genus in the ground beetle family Carabidae. There are about 11 described species in Cyclosomus. They are found in southern and southeastern Asia and Africa.
Cymindoidea is a genus in the ground beetle family Carabidae. There are about 15 described species in Cymindoidea, found in southern Asia and Africa.
Platytarus is a genus in the ground beetle family Carabidae. There are about 12 described species in Platytarus.
Lionychus is a genus in the ground beetle family Carabidae. There are at least 20 described species in Lionychus.
Plocaederus is a genus of Long-Horned Beetles in the beetle family Cerambycidae. This genus has a single species, Plocaederus bellator. It is known from the South American countries Brazil, Ecuador, Guyana, French Guiana, Paraguay, and Suriname.
Ellescus is a genus of true weevils in the beetle family Curculionidae. There are about 16 described species in Ellescus.
Microschemus is a genus of in the beetle family Carabidae. There are more than 20 described species in Microschemus found in Africa and southern Asia.
