Scott Bauhs (born May 11, 1986) is an American professional distance runner sponsored by Asics and runs for Asics Aggies. He is a former Chico State runner for NCAA Division II athletics. He is the youngest American to complete both the four-minute mile and the 28-minute 10,000-meter run.
He ran a half marathon best of 1:01:30 hours at the 2012 Houston Marathon, placing third overall. [2]
Bauhs has a high school level, cross country race named after him. The Scott Bauhs Invitational is held in Pleasanton, California and was first started in 2006. The course is 3 miles with 90% hard-packed dirt. A few small inclines, with none over 150 metres. Luis Luna of (Piner High School) set the men's course record of 14:44 minutes in 2011, [3] while Jena Pianin (Amador Valley High School) has the women's record of 17:38 minutes from 2012. [4]

While running for San Ramon Valley High School, Bauhs improved every year. As he improved, he had the smaller Division I schools recruiting him in his junior year. [5] He signed with Chico State, but at the end of his senior season, after he finished second at the CIF California State Meet in the 3200 meters, [6] there were much bigger schools such as Oregon that were interested.
Bauhs decided to stay at Chico, and there he became one of the most successful Division 2 collegiate athletes in history. He amassed eight All-Americans honors. [7] He also won three national titles.
During the 2007 track season, Bauhs beat Nicodemus Naimadu [8] of Abilene Christian to win the 10k title. Naimadu was previously undefeated. Later on, Bauhs broke the four-minute-mile barrier, and American Age Group Records in the half-marathon. He also broke the NCAA Division II American records in the 5k and 10k. [9] During his time at Chico, Bauhs ran under coach Gary Towne.
Katie McGregor is an American runner who participates in track, cross country and the marathon.
Dathan James Ritzenhein is a retired American long-distance runner, and current head coach of the On Athletics Club (OAC). He held the American record in the 5,000 metres (12:56.27) from 2009 to 2010, until it was broken by Bernard Lagat. He is a three-time national cross country champion with wins at the USA Cross Country Championships in 2005, 2008 and 2010. Formerly a Nike athlete for the majority of his professional career, Dathan joined the Hansons-Brooks Distance Project team in 2017. In early May 2020, he announced his retirement from competition. He signed with the Swiss shoe brand On shortly thereafter in June 2020 and currently acts as the coach for the OAC in Boulder, Colorado.
Chris Solinsky is a retired American distance runner and an American college cross country coach. Solinsky is the current assistant coach of the Oregon Ducks cross country team at the University of Oregon. Among his more notable achievements, he won eight state championships in high school and five NCAA Division I championships at the University of Wisconsin. He was the American 10,000 meters record holder with a time of 26:59.60 as well as the first non-African to break the 27-minute barrier in the 10,000 m.
Galen Rupp is an American long-distance runner. He competed in the Summer Olympics in 2008 in Beijing, 2012 in London, 2016 in Rio de Janeiro and 2021 in Tokyo. He won the silver medal in the men's 10,000 meters in London and the bronze medal in the men's marathon in Rio de Janeiro. Rupp competed for the University of Oregon and trained under Alberto Salazar as a member of the Nike Oregon Project. He won the 2017 Chicago Marathon, becoming the first American to do so since Khalid Khannouchi in 2002. Rupp won the marathon at the 2020 U.S. Olympic Trials in Atlanta with a time of 2:09:20, and qualified for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, where he finished eighth.
Kara Goucher is an American long-distance runner. She was the 10,000 meters silver medalist at the 2007 World Championships in Athletics and represented the USA at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and 2012 London Olympics. She made her marathon debut in 2008 and finished third the following year at the Boston Marathon.
Shalane Grace Flanagan is an American long-distance runner, Olympic medalist and New York City Marathon champion. She was the first American woman to win the New York City Marathon since 1977. She holds the NACAC area records in both the 10k and 15k road races.

Sally Jepkosgei Kipyego is a Kenyan-born American long- and middle-distance runner. Alan Webb is an American former track and field athlete and former triathlete. He held the American national record in the mile, with a time of 3 minutes 46.91 seconds, from July 2007 to September 2023. Webb represented the United States at the 2004 Summer Olympics in the men's 1500-meters race. He competed professionally for Nike until the end of 2013. He retired after the 2014 Millrose Games.

Grant Jackson Fisher is an American professional middle- and long-distance runner. He holds the American national records for the 5,000 (12:46.96) and 10,000 meters (26:33.84), both set in a 2022 breakthrough season outdoors, and the 3,000 meters (7:25.47) after a post-injury return late in the 2023 outdoor season. Emily Sisson is an American long-distance runner. She set the North American record in the marathon on 9 October 2022, when she ran 2:18:29 to finish second at the Chicago Marathon. Sisson also held the American record in the half marathon from May 2022 until July 2023. She represented the United States in the 10000 metres at the 2017 and 2019 World Athletics Championships, finishing 9th and 10th. Leonard Essau Korir is an American long-distance runner who competes over distances from 5000 meters to the marathon. He is a two-time NCAA champion, winning an indoor 5000 m title and outdoor 10,000 meters title in 2011 for the Iona Gaels. He gained United States citizenship and began competing for his adoptive nation in 2016.
