The 2016 IAAF World Half Marathon Championships took place on 26 March 2016 in Cardiff, United Kingdom. [1] It was the 22nd edition of the event and the 4th in the United Kingdom alone. [2]

In conjunction with the men's elite race, an open half marathon was held on the same course for 16,000 competitors. [3]

The Wizz AirCardiff Half Marathon is an annual half marathon race held in the Welsh capital city of Cardiff, taking place in October. Senior and junior races were held for men and women, with the four races having both a team and individual element.

The 2014 IAAF World Half Marathon Championships took place on March 29, 2014. The races were held in Copenhagen, Denmark. The essentially flat one-loop course was beginning and ending in the city centre by Christiansborg Castle. Detailed reports on the event and an appraisal of the results were given both for the men's race and for the women's race.

In 2016, the foremost athletics events will be staged at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. The two other major global level competitions in 2016 are the World Indoor Championships and World Half Marathon Championships.

The 2018 IAAF World Half Marathon Championships took place on 24 March 2018 in Valencia, Spain. It was the 23rd edition of the event and the 2nd time it was held in Spain.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Mule Wasihun</span> Ethiopian long-distance runner

Mule Wasihun Lakew is an Ethiopian long-distance runner who competes in road running events up to the marathon distance. He was a team silver medallist at the 2016 IAAF World Half Marathon Championships. He holds a marathon best of 2:03:16 hours. Wasihun is currently part of the NN Running Team, an international team of elite long-distance runners managed by Global Sports Communication in Nijmegen, Netherlands.
