Lancashire County Cricket Club represents the historic county of Lancashire in English cricket. The club has held first-class status since it was founded in 1864. Lancashire's home is Old Trafford Cricket Ground, although the team also play matches at other grounds around the county. Lancashire was a founder member of the County Championship in 1890 and have won the competition nine times, most recently in 2011. The club's limited overs team is called Lancashire Lightning.
Nelson Football Club is a football club based in Nelson, Lancashire, England. Originally established in 1882, the club played in the Lancashire League, North-East Lancashire Combination, Lancashire Combination and Central League before becoming founder members of the Third Division North of the Football League in 1921. They were Division Three North champions in 1922–23 and were promoted to the Second Division. However, they were relegated back to the Third Division North after a single season.
The Seedhill Football Ground was a football stadium in Nelson, Lancashire. It was the home of various incarnations of current North West Counties League Division One side Nelson F.C. from 1889, when the Burnley Express reported an opening senior fixture played against Burnley on March 16th 1889, until 1971. During their tenure at Seedhill, Nelson were members of the English Football League between 1921 and 1931. Nelson's last game at Seedhill was a Lancashire Combination fixture on Sunday 28 March 1971 against local rivals, Clitheroe F.C. Local newspaper, the Nelson Leader, reported that a crowd of over a thousand gathered to see Clitheroe beaten by five goals to three in what was not only the last game but also the first Sunday game at the stadium. Nelson then moved to their current Victoria Park ground on Lomeshaye Holme for the start of the 1971–72 season. Seedhill football ground was demolished in the early 1980s to make way for the M65 motorway.
Abbeydale Park is a sports venue in Dore, South Yorkshire, England. It is unusual in having hosted home games for two different county cricket teams.
Great Horton Road was a cricket ground in Bradford, West Yorkshire, England on which Yorkshire County Cricket Club held first class matches from 1863 to 1874. The ground hosted seven County Championship and one other first class match during that time. That match saw Yorkshire pitted against a United South of England XI with the home team winning by 26 runs despite having been bowled out for 64 in their own first innings when Allen Hill and George Ulyett bowled the visitors out for 39 when chasing just 65 to win. In the last first class match played at the venue, a Roses Match in 1874, William McIntyre took 8 for 35 for Lancashire in their innings victory. The ground was sold for development and is currently covered by housing on Pemberton Drive and the eastern halves of Sherborne Road and Merton Road.
Netherfield Cricket Club Ground is a cricket ground in Kendal, Cumbria. The first recorded match on the ground was in 1893. The ground hosted its first Minor Counties Championship match in 1956, when Cumberland played the Lancashire Second XI. From 1956 to 2007, the ground hosted 44 Minor Counties Championship matches, with the final Minor Counties Championship match played to date at the ground in 2007 seeing Cumberland host Norfolk. The ground has also hosted 3 MCCA Knockout Trophy matches, the most recent of which saw Cumberland play Cheshire in 2010.

Elm Avenue is a cricket ground in Newark-on-Trent, Nottinghamshire. The first recorded match on the ground was in 1930 when it was opened by the Ransome & Marles Company. During its history, the ground has played host to 23 Nottinghamshire Second XI matches in both the Minor Counties Championship and Second Eleven Championship.

Botanical Gardens Cricket Ground was a cricket ground in Old Trafford, Stretford, Lancashire. The ground was located adjacent to Manchester Botanical Garden. The ground was on land owned by Sir Humphrey de Trafford, who allowed Manchester Cricket Club to lease the ground.
Wagon Works Ground is a cricket ground in Gloucester, Gloucestershire. The ground was owned by the Gloucester Railway Carriage and Wagon Company.
Swilgate is a cricket ground in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire. The first recorded match on the ground was in 1893, when Tewkesbury played Handsworth Wood.
The 2021 County Championship was the 121st cricket County Championship season in England and Wales. For the first phase of the tournament, the teams were split into three groups of six, with each side playing ten matches. The top two teams from each group progressed into Division One for the second phase of the competition, with the other teams progressing to Divisions Two and Three. The team that finished top of Division One became the county champions; and the top two teams from Division One contested a five-day match at Lord's for the Bob Willis Trophy. On 17 December 2020, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed all the fixtures for the tournament. After completion of the group stage on 14 July 2021, the ECB confirmed the fixtures for the division stage on 22 July 2021.
The 2022 County Championship was the 122nd cricket County Championship season in England and Wales. The season began on 7 April and ended on 29 September 2022. Warwickshire were the defending champions.
