Ss John Fisher and Thomas More RC High School is a coeducational secondary school located in Colne in the English county of Lancashire. [1] The school is named after the Roman Catholic Saints John Fisher and Thomas More. The headteacher from September 2002 to July 2007 was Mr Brendan Conboy, who moved to Our Lady's Catholic College. Established in 1960, it is a voluntary aided school administered by Lancashire County Council and the Roman Catholic Diocese of Salford. The principal associated primary schools are Holy Saviour RC Primary School in Nelson, Holy Trinity RC Primary School in Brierfield, Sacred Heart RC Primary School in Colne, St John Southworth RC Primary School in Nelson and St Joseph's RC Primary School in Barnoldswick. Ss John Fisher and Thomas More RC High School offers GCSEs and BTECs as programmes of study for pupils. The school also offers some vocational courses, in conjunction with local further education colleges. [4]

Colne Human settlement in England

Colne is a market town and civil parish in Lancashire, England, 6 mi (9.7 km) northeast of Burnley, 25 mi (40 km) east of Preston, 25 mi (40 km) north of Manchester and 30 mi (48 km) west of Leeds. The cross allows a market to be held there and dates back to the 15th century. The cross was originally at the junction of Colne Lane and Church Street. It was first moved to the grounds of The Gables on Albert Road, the location of Colne Library until around 1970. Natalie 'Nat' Haythornthwaite is an English netball player. She was part of the England squad that won gold at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. Haythornthwaite played for Manchester Thunder and Wasps Netball in the English Superleague, winning consecutive premierships with the Wasps in 2017 and 2018. She played for the New South Wales Swifts in the Australian Super Netball league as a replacement player for some games in late 2018, before being permanently picked up by the Swifts for the 2019 season. Despite an injury-interrupted start to the season, Haythornthwaite was selected in the England 12-player squad for the 2019 Netball World Cup.
