Cameron Highlands is an area in Pahang, Malaysia. It has three major towns: Ringlet, Tanah Rata and Brinchang. The Highlands have five settlements: Bertam Valley, Kea Farm, Tringkap, Kuala Terla, and Kampung Raja. These eight communities are linked by a 34-kilometer-long road that stretches from Ringlet to Kampung Raja.

Towns

Ringlet

Ringlet (1,100 metres (3,600 ft)) is the first town after the turnoff from Tapah. It is an agricultural hub. A wide variety of vegetables are grown there. The cool climate is favorable for growing passion fruit, strawberries and grapefruit.

Tanah Rata

Tanah Rata (1,400 metres (4,600 ft)) is the administrative center of the area. The police station, government offices, hospital, schools, library, post office, shops, banks, eateries, inns, chalets, bus station and taxi stand are all present. The town is noted for its intricate network of jungle tracks leading to waterfalls, mountains, scenic spots or aboriginal villages. These tracks generally intersect with each other to form a “loop” around the city.

Brinchang

Brinchang (1,450 metres (4,760 ft)) is the Highlands' second biggest town. The majority of its visitors are from Singapore or Malaysia. It is close to the central market, orchards, nurseries, museum and a golf course. Brinchang is also known for its “Night Market," an outdoor bazaar typically open on weekends and during school holidays.

Attractions

Bertam Valley is a scenic spot about two kilometers from Ringlet. Its main activity is the cultivation of fruit, flowers and vegetables. It is the Highlands' entryway from Pahang via Sungei Koyan from Raub or Kuala Lipis.

Kea Farm (1,600 metres (5,200 ft)) is one of the highest villages in Peninsular Malaysia. It is adjacent to the tea estates and Mount Batu Brinchang (Malay: Gunung Batu Brinchang).

Tringkap is a farming enclave and is the area's focal point for growing vegetables. A high percentage of its crops are grown on terraces and the bulk of its production is exported to Singapore.

Kuala Terla is a farming commune. Its main activity is the cultivation of fruits, flowers and vegetables. It is approximately four kilometers from Kampung Raja. It has a mixed population including Chinese, Indians and Malays; however, the most common language spoken is Malay.

Kampung Raja is a residential area and the first town after the turnoff from Simpang Pulai. From Kampung Raja, it is possible to proceed to either Ipoh (Perak) or Gua Musang (Kelantan).

Brinchang

Brinchang is a town and hill resort located at an altitude of 1,540 metres (5,050 ft) in Cameron Highlands in the state of Pahang, Malaysia.

Tringkap is a small town in Cameron Highlands, Pahang, Malaysia. It is also known as 'Dai Gong Si'. It located 8 km from Brinchang and just beside the famous tea plantation, the Sungai Palas BOH Tea Plantation. Among the famous spots are rose valley, bees farms, vegetable farms and various stalls selling fresh vegetables, flowers, kinds of honey, strawberry and other local produces.

The Time Tunnel is Malaysia's first memorabilia museum. Located in Brinchang, it is recognised as one of the main attractions of the Cameron Highlands. It is approximately 90 kilometres (56 mi) from Ipoh or about 200 kilometres (120 mi) from Kuala Lumpur

Malaysia Federal Route 102 Road in Malaysia

The Federal Route 102, also known as Pos Betau–Lembah Bertam Road, is a 79.1-kilometre (49.2 mi) federal highway in Pahang, Malaysia. It is built as the third access road to the district of Cameron Highlands, Pahang after the Federal Route 59 and 185. The completion of the highway makes it possible for Pahangite motorists to visit Cameron Highlands without leaving the state of Pahang. And this road has no petrol station at the entire journey, motorists are required to fill up at Sungai Koyan before continuing their journey through this road.

The 2014 Cameron Highlands mud floods took place in Cameron Highlands, Pahang, Malaysia on 5 and 6 November 2014. More than 20 houses in Ringlet town, Ringlet new village, Kampung Ulu Merah Ringlet and Bertam Valley are submerged in knee-deep flood waters. At least three people were killed while other five injured according to official reports. Electricity supply to the affected villages was inevitably cut off for several weeks. About 90 victims from 28 families were evacuated to relief centre in Ringlet. This was the second time that mud floods of this magnitude had ravaged the Bertam Valley since the 2013 mud floods. The mud floods had been largely attributed to illegal land clearing by foreign illegal immigrants who were involved in the rapidly expanding agricultural industry there. Pahang Sultan Ahmad Shah has orders to stop the illegal farming and there is a claimed of corruption involving the illegal land clearing.
