Ringlet is the southernmost town of the Cameron Highlands, Pahang, Malaysia. It is situated close to the state border with Perak.

Geography

Situated at an altitude of 1,135 metres above sea level (3,723 ft), Ringlet is a hub of Malaysia's vegetable farming and international flower farming sector. The town contains some other small villages such as Bertam Valley, Boh and Habu Height.

Fraser's Hill is a hill resort in Raub District, Pahang, Malaysia, on the Pahangese and Selangorean sections of the Titiwangsa Mountains. It is about 100 km (62 mi) north of Kuala Lumpur. In 1890, Louis James Fraser established the area as a tin mining community known as Pamah Lebar when he discovered rich tin deposits and opened a tin mining facility. Mining activity there was short-lived, as the tin ore was depleted in 1913. This led many miners and farmers to abandon the area. Fraser reportedly disappeared in 1910, but research in 2019 concluded that he retired from his position and returned to Great Britain in 1910. He died in 1916 while travelling in Austria-Hungary.

The completion of the highway makes it possible for Pahangite motorists to visit Cameron Highlands without leaving the state of Pahang.

The 2013 Cameron Highlands mud floods took place on 23 October 2013. Three people died while another was missing due to the mud flood in Bertam Valley, Cameron Highlands, Pahang, Malaysia. Heavy rain had occurred continuously since 7:00pm the day before, creating a need to alleviate the water in the dam the morning of the flood. The water from in the dam was released three times starting with the first at midnight, then another at 1:00am, and finally again at 2:45am. The flash flood occurred at 1:00am as a result of the release of the water from the Sultan Abu Bakar dam in Ringlet that forced the Bertam River to suddenly rise and breach its banks. In the aftermath, around 10 kongsi houses that were on the banks of the river were destroyed, roughly 80 houses were damaged, some of which were 3 km away, and 100 vehicles suffered damage.

The 2014 Cameron Highlands mud floods took place in Cameron Highland, Pahang, Malaysia on 5 and 6 November 2014. More than 20 houses in Ringlet town, Ringlet new village, Kampung Ulu Merah Ringlet and Bertam Valley were submerged in knee-deep flood waters. At least three people were killed while five others were injured, according to official reports. The electrical supply to the affected villages was cut off for several weeks. About 90 victims from 28 families were evacuated to a relief centre in Ringlet. This was the second time that mud floods of this magnitude had ravaged the Bertam Valley since the 2013 mud floods. The mud floods had been largely attributed to illegal land clearing by foreign illegal immigrants who were involved in the rapidly expanding agricultural industry there. Pahang Sultan Ahmad Shah has orders to stop the illegal farming and there is a claim of corruption involving the illegal land clearing.

Cameron Highlands is an area in Pahang, Malaysia. It has three major towns: Ringlet, Tanah Rata and Brinchang.
