Seanie O'Shea is a former footballer and hurler from Kenmare, County Kerry. He played with the Kerry inter-county hurling team during the 1990s. He played in the famous 1993 Munster Championship win over Waterford. He won an All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship with Dr Crokes in 1992, and returned as a trainer in later years. He is a brother of former Kerry manager Pat O'Shea.
Tom (Tomásin) Nolan was a hurler from County Kerry. He played with the Kerry and the Crotta O'Neill's club.
Shane Brick is a hurler from County Kerry, Ireland. He has played with the Kerry intercounty team, and originally played his club hurling with Kilmoyley. He won six Kerry Senior Hurling Championship medals with Kilmoyley. In 2014, he switched to the southeast of Cork to play with Tracton GAA. He retired from playing in 2016, and joined the management team with Douglas GAA in 2019.
Todd Nolan was a hurler from County Kerry, Ireland. He played with the Kerry intercounty team from 1966 to 1986, and with his local Crotta O'Neill's club. He also played football with Fingue.

It is contested by the six county teams ranked 12–17 in the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship. Each year, the champions of the Joe McDonagh Cup are promoted to their provincial championship, and the lowest finishing team is relegated to the Christy Ring Cup. The cup is named in honour of Joe McDonagh, the former president of the GAA who died in 2016. The last of the five tiers to be established, the competition was contested for the first time in 2018.
