The City of Rockdale was a local government area in southern and St George regions of Sydney,in the state of New South Wales,Australia. The city centre was located 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) south-west of the Sydney central business district,on the western shores of Botany Bay. First proclaimed on 13 January 1871,Rockdale was formerly known as the Municipality of West Botany until 1887 and the Municipality of Rockdale before being proclaimed as a City in 1995. Rockdale was amalgamated with the neighbouring City of Botany Bay on 9 September 2016 to form the new municipality of Bayside Council.
Penelope Gail Sharpe is an Australian politician. She has served as a member of the New South Wales Legislative Council since 2005,representing the Labor Party. Since March 2023,Sharpe is the Leader of the Government in the Legislative Council and the Vice-President of the Executive Council since Labor's election victory in March 2023,having previously served as leader of the opposition in the Legislative Council between 2021 and 2023.
Michael John Daley is an Australian politician and has been the Attorney-General of New South Wales since 28 March 2023. He was previously the Leader of the Opposition in the Parliament of New South Wales from November 2018 to March 2019. He is the member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly representing Maroubra for the Australian Labor Party since 2005. Daley is aligned with the Labor Right faction.
Francesco Ernest Sartor is an Australian former politician who served as New South Wales Minister for Climate Change and the Environment and Minister Assisting the Minister for Health (Cancer) between 2009 and 2011. He was a Member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly representing Rockdale for the Labor Party between 2003 and 2011. Sartor has previously been Minister for Planning,Redfern Waterloo and the Arts,and Minister for Water and Utilities in the Iemma and Carr governments. Before being elected to the New South Wales Parliament,Sartor was the second longest-serving Lord Mayor of Sydney,after Clover Moore,having held the post for nearly 12 years from September 1991 to March 2003. Sartor retired from politics at the 2011 state election.
Rose Butler Jackson is an Australian Labor Party politician serving as a Member of the New South Wales Legislative Council since 8 May 2019. Since 5 April 2023,she has been serving in the Minns ministry as Minister for Water,Minister for Housing,Minister for Homelessness,Minister for Mental Health,Minister for Youth,and Minister for the North Coast. She is the former Assistant General Secretary of NSW Labor.
Daryl William Maguire is a former Australian politician who was a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly representing Wagga Wagga for the Liberal Party from 1999 to 2018. On 30 March 2011,Maguire was appointed to Government Whip in the O'Farrell-Stoner Liberal/National coalition government;he had been Opposition Whip for the Coalition since 2003. On 13 July 2018,after admitting at a corruption inquiry that he sought payment over a property deal,Maguire resigned from the Liberal Party. He resigned from Parliament on 3 August. Between 2013 and August 2020,Maguire had an "intimate" relationship with Gladys Berejiklian,who became Premier of New South Wales during that time. He had been estranged from his wife since 2013,and divorce proceedings started in 2018.
Members of the New South Wales Legislative Council who served in the 54th Parliament were elected at the 2003 and 2007 elections. As members serve eight-year terms,half of the Council was elected in 2003 and did not face re-election in 2007,and the members elected in 2007 did not face re-election until 2015. The President was Peter Primrose until 17 November 2009 and then Amanda Fazio.
John George Ajaka,an Australian politician,was a member of the New South Wales Legislative Council from 2007 to 2021,representing the Liberal Party and he is the first Liberal Party Lebanese Australian member of an Australian parliament. Ajaka has previously served as the Minister for the Illawarra during 2013 and 2015 in the O'Farrell and first Baird government. He was also the President of the New South Wales Legislative Council until March 2021.
Luke Aquinas Foley is a former Australian Labor Party politician who served as the Leader of the Opposition in the Parliament of New South Wales from 2015 to 2018. Foley was a member of the New South Wales Legislative Council since 19 June 2010 until his resignation to contest the Legislative Assembly seat of Auburn at the 2015 New South Wales election. Foley resigned after it was alleged that he had indecently assaulted an ABC journalist. Foley denies the allegations.
David Martin Shoebridge is an Australian politician and former barrister. He is a member of the Australian Greens and was elected to the Senate as the party's lead candidate in New South Wales at the 2022 federal election,to a term beginning on 1 July 2022. He previously served in the New South Wales Legislative Council from 2010 to 2022 and on the Woollahra Municipal Council from 2004 to 2012.

David Andrew Elliott is a retired Australian politician. Elliott served as the New South Wales Minister for Transport and the Minister for Veterans in the Perrottet ministry between 21 December 2021 and 25 March 2023. Elliott was a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly representing Baulkham Hills for the Liberal Party between 2011 and 2023.
Ernest Kwok Chung Wong is a Hong Kong-born Australian politician who was an Australian Labor Party member of the New South Wales Legislative Council from 2013 to 2019.

The Shadow Ministry of Jodi McKay was the Labor opposition from July 2019 to May 2021,opposing the Berejiklian government in the Parliament of New South Wales. It was led by Jodi McKay following her election as leader of the party and NSW Leader of the Opposition on 29 June 2019. The shadow ministry was announced on 3 July 2019.
