Sheikh Sadi Khan (born 1950) [1] is a Bangladeshi composer and music director. He won Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Music Director for the film Ghani (2006) and Best Music Composer for Bhalobaslei Ghor Bandha Jay Na (2010). [2] He won Ekushey Padak in 2018 by the Government of Bangladesh.

Early life and career

Khan began his career under the guardianship of his father Ustad Ayet Ali Khan. He took lessons as a violinist from his elder brother Ustad Bahadur Khan. [3]

Khan joined Pakistan Radio in 1965. He started as a Behala player. When the Liberation War of Bangladesh broke out in 1971, he migrated to Kolkata and worked for Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra. In the early 1970s, he worked as an assistant to the composer Khandaker Nurul Alam. He continued playing the violin in films as well as composing music for Bangladesh Betar. He was the music director of the film Ekhoni Somoy (1980), directed by Abdullah Al Mamun. [4]

As of 2014, Khan is serving as the Chief Music Producer of Bangladesh Betar. [3]

Debu Bhattacherjee (1934–1994) was a Bangladeshi painter, composer, and music director. He was awarded Ekushey Padak in 1976 by the Government of Bangladesh. He earned the first ever Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Music Director for Choritrohin (1975) jointly with Lokman Hossain Fakir. He was conferred Ekushey Padak posthumus in 1997 for his lifetime contribution to Bengali music.

He also won Best Music Composer Award for the films Bagher Thaba (2005) and Ki Jadu Korila (2008). As of 2008, Khan composed around 2000 songs and provided music direction to around 300 films. Khurshid Alam is a Bangladeshi playback singer. His notable songs include Chumki Choleche Eka Pothe, Bondi Pakhir Moto, Maa Go Maa, Miss Lanka, Ajke Na Hoi Bhalobasho, Dheere Dheere Chol Ghora, Chupi Chupi Bolo Keu Jeney Jabe and Jodi Bou Shajo Go. His career has spanned more than four decades, in which he sang over 300 songs. He was conferred the Ekushey Padak from the Government of Bangladesh in 2018 and the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 12th Channel i Music Awards (2017) for his to Bangladeshi film music.

Rawshan Ara Mustafiz is a Bangladeshi singer of Nazrul Sangeet genre. She was awarded Ekushey Padak in 2006 by the Government of Bangladesh.

Ustad Julhas Uddin Ahmed was a Bangladeshi Nazrul Geeti singer and teacher. He was awarded Ekushey Padak for his special contribution in Nazrul Geeti by Government of Bangladesh in 2017.

Dalia Nausheen is a Bangladeshi Nazrul Sangeet singer. She is one of the artists who participated in the Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra during the Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971. In recognition of her contribution to music, the government of Bangladesh awarded her the country's second highest civilian award Ekushey Padak in 2020.
