Sherman3D is an independently owned video game developer team founded by Sherman Chin in April 2003, which develops bright and colorful anime inspired video games. [1]
Sherman Chin is the founder, game producer and Chief Information Officer of Sherman3D. Sherman graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Computing from the University of Portsmouth, UK, and was the recipient of the 2002 International Game Developers Association scholarship. [2] After graduating, Sherman won in Venture 2002,Malaysia's first nationwide business plan competition organized by McKinsey & Company. [3] The award was presented to Sherman by then Malaysia's Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi. [4]
While in college, Sherman was a partner of the founder of 5th Cell, Joseph Tringali, at Epix Interactive Studios before being a founding a shareholder of 5th Cell. [5]
Aside from being the founder of Sherman3D, Sherman worked as a game producer in Japan, as a project manager in Canada, as a COO in Malaysia and a game industry consultant for the Gerson Lehrman Group providing advisory services for international investors. [6]
Sherman is appointed by Limkokwing University of Creative Technology as its external examiner for its games design course [7]
Sherman was featured on the cover and center spread of the New Straits Times [8] newspapers' Tech pullout. The article was awarded best feature and best cover.
Sherman is interviewed as an authority in video game development by RPGamer, [9] GameRamble, [10] and the Astro Awani satellite TV news channel. [11]
Sherman was invited to speak on the philosophy of Great Doubt at Casual Connect Asia in Singapore and was featured by the official Casual Connect GameSauce website. [12]
Sherman was selected by the Tokyo Game Show management committee to represent Malaysia at the indie game area of Tokyo Game Show on the 17, 18, 19 and 20 September 2015, sponsored by Sony PlayStation. [13]
Sherman was one of the main speakers at the Cloud South East Asia conference on 7 October 2015 covering PC Game and Cloud Computing organized by Informa PLC, London [14] and was interviewed by Business Cloud News. [15]
Sherman was one of the featured speakers at the Mobile Developer Day 2015 Conference on 22 October 2015 covering the 1337 Game Accelerator in Cyberjaya, Malaysia. [16]
Sherman spoke about the 1337 Ventures game pre-accelerator at the closed door CIO Asia Summit organized by GDS International attended by 30 international CIOs from 27 until 29 October 2015 at the Le Meridien Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. [17]
In late 2016, Sherman was credited to be Malaysia's most experienced video game developer. [18]
Sherman3D started as an independent game development community but was incorporated in April 2003 in Malaysia. Sherman3D's has online developers from across the globe from countries such as Japan, New Zealand, United Kingdom and the United States. Sherman3D specializes in pixel art outsourcing and has worked on over 20 internationally recognized games including Drawn To Life published by THQ in 2007, Scribblenauts published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment in 2009, Nickelodeon Diego's Build & Rescue published by 2K Play in 2010. [19]
In 2011, Sherman3D created its own story and trademarked intellectual property in the form of a sci-fi fantasy PC Role Playing Game entitled Alpha Kimori Great Doubt Episode One, which was distributed by Big Fish Games, [20] IGN Entertainment [21] and GameHouse [22] in the US, IGN [23] in the UK, GamersGate [24] in Sweden, and DLsite in Japan. Sherman3D is an authorized Nintendo DS developer and provides pixel art partner studio outsourcing services to other game development companies such as 5th Cell. [26] Sherman3D and its services is also listed in the Game Developer's Market Guide book [27]
Sherman3D worked on a MMORPG prototype entitled Vibeforce on IBM's Butterfly Supercomputing Grid [28] for Sony's PlayStation 2, [29] which was showcased at E3 2003. [30] Sherman3D was mentioned in The New York Times, [31] The Wall Street Journal [32] and USA Today. [33]

Sherman3D was invited to speak on the philosophy of Great Doubt in Alpha Kimori [36] at the Defense, Science & Research Conference 2011 organized by the National University of Singapore in Singapore in August 2011. [37]
Sherman3D also worked on all the in-game pixel art graphics of Scribblenauts, [38] Lock's Quest [39] and Drawn To Life, [40] which were rated at 8.5, [41] 8.5 [42] and 8.0 out of 10 [43] respectively by IGN Entertainment.
Sherman3D's Alpha Kimori game was selected as the first and only commercial flagship RPG Maker game sold by Degica Co., Ltd., Japan, the official sole distributor of the RPG Maker game engine internationally on 5 August 2012. [44]
Sherman3D showcased Alpha Kimori at the Tokyo Game Show in Japan on 20 and 21 September 2012 [45] [46] and was highlighted by the Japanese media as a tribute to classic Japanese role-playing games. [47]
Sherman3D's Alpha Kimori was put up on Valve's Steam Greenlight [48] and was featured on Tech In Asia [49] and Gamezebo. [50]

Carmageddon is a vehicular combat video game released for personal computers in 1997. It was produced by Stainless Games and published by Interplay Productions and Sales Curve Interactive. It was ported to other platforms, and spawned a series.
The Incredible Machine (TIM) is a series of video games in which players create a series of Rube Goldberg devices. They were originally designed and coded by Kevin Ryan and produced by Jeff Tunnell, the now-defunct Jeff Tunnell Productions, and published by Dynamix; the 1993 through 1995 versions had the same development team, but the later 2000–2001 games have different designers. All versions were published by Sierra Entertainment. The entire series and intellectual property were acquired by Jeff Tunnell-founded PushButton Labs in October 2009. PushButton Labs was later acquired by Playdom, itself a division of Disney Interactive, so as of now the rights are held by The Walt Disney Company.
Relic Entertainment Inc. is a Canadian video game developer based in Vancouver, founded in 1997. The studio specializes in real-time strategy games and is known for series such as Homeworld, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War and Company of Heroes. Acquired by THQ in 2004, the company was sold to Sega on January 22, 2013, as part of THQ's bankruptcy and operated under its European division. By May 2024, Relic had secured a partnership with an external investment group, allowing it to split from Sega and operate independently.
Obsidian Entertainment, Inc. is an American video game developer based in Irvine, California and part of Xbox Game Studios. It was founded in June 2003, shortly before the closure of Black Isle Studios, by ex-Black Isle employees Feargus Urquhart, Chris Avellone, Chris Parker, Darren Monahan, and Chris Jones.
Big Huge Games, Inc. is an American video game developer based in Timonium, Maryland since 2000, known first for real-time strategy games such as Rise of Nations, later for the console RPG Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, and more recently for mobile games such as DomiNations and Arcane Showdown. Throughout most of its history the company has been associated with its best-known founder, Brian Reynolds, whose prior career already included work as lead designer of Civilization II and Alpha Centauri, and co-founder of Firaxis Games. The studio's ownership has changed hands several times over the years, and it became briefly defunct in May 2012, but it was revived by Reynolds along with several original alumni and new partners. Summoner is an action role-playing game developed by Volition and published by THQ. It was released as a launch title for the PlayStation 2 in 2000, and was subsequently ported to Microsoft Windows and Mac OS the following year. In the game, the player plays the role of Joseph and can assemble a team of compatriots and summon powerful monsters. The game has a world map, involved storyline, and unique hybrid combat system involving real-time and turn-based mechanisms.
Alpha Kimori is a trilogy of episodic sprite-based role-playing video games. Its art style is anime-inspired. It markets itself as having a highly philosophical plot combined with a traditional Japanese RPG turn-based battle system. Alpha Kimori is independently developed by Sherman Chin and Sherman3D. It was produced using the RPG Maker engine.
RPG Maker, known in Japan as RPG Tsukūru, is a series of programs for the development of role-playing video games (RPGs) with story-driven elements, created by the Japanese group ASCII, succeeded by Enterbrain, and then by Gotcha Gotcha Games. The Japanese name, Tsukūru, is a pun mixing the Japanese word tsukuru (作る), which means "make" or "create", with tsūru (ツール), the Japanese transliteration of the English word "tool".
Sid Meier's Civilization V is a 4X turn-based strategy video game in the Civilization series developed by Firaxis Games. The game was released for Windows in September 2010, for Mac OS X on November 23, 2010, and for Linux on June 10, 2014.
5th Cell is an independently owned American video game developer founded in 2003 as 5th Cell Media, LLC. led by Jeremiah Slaczka and Marius Falhbusch. The company is most well known for creating the Drawn to Life and Scribblenauts series.
Darksiders II is an action role-playing hack and slash video game developed by Vigil Games and published by THQ. It is the sequel to Darksiders and was released in August 2012 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and as a launch title for Wii U upon the console's North American and PAL regions release in November of the same year. The story follows the efforts of player character Death to clear the name of his brother, War, who stands accused of wiping out humanity. On a total budget of $50 million, it was one of the most expensive video games to develop of all time.
Metro: Last Light is a 2013 first-person shooter video game developed by 4A Games and published by Deep Silver. A sequel to the video game Metro 2033 and the second installment in the Metro series, its story follows Artyom, a young soldier living in the Moscow Metro after a devastating nuclear war. Tasked with finding the mysterious Dark Ones, Artyom must venture to different parts of the metro system, and the surface filled with radiated gases, and fight against different factions and mutated monsters. The game improves on various gameplay mechanics of 2033, and introduces elements such as weapon customization.

The Witch's House MV is a puzzle horror game created by the Japanese developer Fummy (ふみー) using the RPG Maker MV engine. It was published by DANGEN Entertainment and released for Microsoft Windows and Mac OS on October 8, 2018, with a port to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One following in October 2022. It is a remake of The Witch's House, a freeware game created using RPG Maker VX that was first released on October 3, 2012 for Windows.
SpellForce is a real-time strategy and role-playing series created by Phenomic and currently owned by THQ Nordic. The first release was published by JoWooD Productions and Encore Software in 2003 and THQ Nordic in 2017.
Darksiders III is a 2018 action role-playing game developed by Gunfire Games and published by THQ Nordic. The game was released for PlayStation 4, Windows, and Xbox One in November 2018. A Stadia version and Nintendo Switch port released in September 2021. It is the third entry in the Darksiders series.
OneShot is a puzzle-adventure game developed by the indie studio Future Cat and published by Degica. Based on a free version made in 2014, it was released for Windows on December 8, 2016. A console adaptation, OneShot: World Machine Edition, was released for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on September 22, 2022.
Airship Syndicate Entertainment, Inc. is an American video game development company based in Austin, Texas. Founded by several ex-Vigil Games staff including Joe Madureira and Ryan Stefanelli, in 2014, Airship Syndicate is most known for developing Battle Chasers: Nightwar (2017), Darksiders Genesis (2019) and Ruined King: A League of Legends Story (2021).
