Shooting at the 2008 Summer Paralympics consisted of twelve events. The competition was held in the Beijing Shooting Range Hall from 7 September to 12 September.
The Asian Para Games, also known as Para Asiad, is a multi-sport event regulated by the Asian Paralympic Committee that's held every four years after every Asian Games for athletes with physical disabilities. Both events had adopted the strategy used by the Olympic and Paralympic Games of having both games in the same city. However, the exclusion of Asian Para Games from Asian Games host city contract meant that both events ran independently of each other. The Games are recognized by the International Paralympic Committee and are described as the second largest multi-sport event after the Paralympic Games.

Hangzhou was the second Chinese city to host the Asian Para Games, after Guangzhou in 2010.

Palesha Goverdhan is a Nepali parataekwondo practitioner. In 2021, she competed at the 2020 Summer Paralympics in the 58 kg category. Three years later, Goverdhan competed at the 2024 Summer Paralympics and won a bronze medal, becoming the first Nepalese athlete to win a medal at the Paralympics.

The 2022 World Shooting Para Sport Championships was the 8th edition of the World Shooting Para Sport Championships. It was held in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates from 6 to 17 November 2022. It was the first time the competition was staged in the Middle East.

Taekwondo made its debut as an Asian Para Games sport during the 2022 version of the games, held in Hangzhou, China. 77 fighters from 17 nations took part in the competition, fighting in ten weight categories. Competitors qualified under the K44 designation, which includes athletes with unilateral arm amputation or similar imparemnet, or loss of toes affecting the ability to lift the heel.

Originally scheduled to take place from 9 to 15 October 2022, the event was postponed to 2023 on 17 May 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Japan sent 259 athletes to the game, consisting of 153 men and 106 women, and competed in 20 out of 22 events, excepting only Chess and Go. Japanese athletes won a total of 150 medals - 42 gold medals, 49 silver medals and 59 bronze medals and finished third at the medal table after China and Iran.
