Shortlands is a parliamentary constituency electing one representative to the National Parliament of Solomon Islands. It is one of eight constituencies in Western Province and covers the Shortland Islands. [1]
The constituency was one of the thirty-eight original constituencies established for the First Parliament elected in 1976. Its first MP was Remesion Eresi. [2]

Solomon Sunaone Mamaloni was a Solomon Islands politician. He was the first Chief Minister of the islands, and later served as Prime Minister for three spells in the 1980s and 1990s.
Sir Peter Kenilorea KBE was a Solomon Islander politician, officially styled The Rt Hon. Sir Peter Kenilorea as a member of the Privy Council of the United Kingdom. He was the first Prime Minister of an independent Solomon Islands, from 1978–81, and also served a second term from 1984–86.
Vella Lavella is an island in the Western Province of the Solomon Islands. It lies to the west of New Georgia, but is considered one of the New Georgia Group. To its west are the Treasury Islands.

Sir Francis Billy Hilly is a Solomon Islands politician who was the fourth Prime Minister of the Solomon Islands from 18 June 1993 to 7 November 1994. Hilly has been Minister of Commerce, Industry and Employment since December 2007.

Augustine Taneko was a member of the National Parliament of Solomon Islands, representing the Shortlands constituency. He lives in Shortlands, in the Western Province, and was first elected in 2001. He was replaced by Steve Laore. After Steve Laore's death, Taneko ran for election to his former seat, finishing 2nd to Christopher Laore.
East Honiara is a parliamentary constituency electing one representative to the National Parliament of Solomon Islands. With an electorate of 30,049 in 2006, it is by far the most heavily populated constituency in the country, being the only one to consist in more than 20,000 voters. Steve Eresi Laore was a Solomon Islands politician and member of parliament. Formerly a mechanic and businessman, and owner of a construction company, he defeated Augustine Taneko to become MP for the Shortlands constituency. He was a member of the Pacific Casino Hotel group that elevated Danny Philip to the position of prime minister.
Central Kwara'ae is a parliamentary constituency electing one representative to the National Parliament of Solomon Islands. It had a registered electorate of 8,977 in 2006, and 9,955 in 2010. It is one of fourteen constituencies in Malaita Province.

A by-election was held in the Shortlands constituency in Solomon Islands on March 30, 2011. The election followed the death of MP Steve Laore, an Independent, who was elected to the seat for his first term in the 2010 general election, and died just twenty-one days later, on August 25.

Choiseul was a single-member constituency of the Governing Council and Legislative Assembly of the Solomon Islands. Created in 1973 when the Governing Council was expanded from 17 to 24 seats, it covered Choiseul Island, replacing the former Choiseul/Shortlands constituency.
