Silverstream Bridge railway station was a station on the Hutt Valley Line section of the Wairarapa Line in New Zealand from 1908 until 28 February 1954, when the Melling-Belmont section of the line and the first rail bridge at Silverstream was closed. It was replaced by the Silverstream railway station.
The station was just across the old rail bridge, in the corner of the Silverstream Hospital grounds. The building was built on a slight curve. It was unusual, being extra long and open on three sides. The back wall had three double doors from the platform. [1]
The Silverstream Bridge railway station was opened on 26 May 1908, and was one of several stations opened in 1908 on the Hutt Valley section of the line, along with Melling railway station, Gosse and Co's Siding, Pitcaithly's railway station, and the Belmont Quarry Co's Siding (which is not to be confused with the Belmont railway station). The main line ran up the western side of the Hutt Valley until 1954. [2]
The station was closed in 1917, but was reopened on 17 August 1942 in World War II to serve the Silverstream Hospital built for American casualties from the Pacific.
Some of this section of the line is now preserved by the Silver Stream Railway, opened in 1978.
The Hutt River flows through the southern North Island of New Zealand. It flows south-west from the southern Tararua Range for 56 kilometres (35 mi), forming a number of fertile floodplains, including Kaitoke, central Upper Hutt and Lower Hutt.
Melling is a suburb of Lower Hutt, to the north of Wellington in the North Island of New Zealand. It is on the west bank of the Hutt River, on State Highway 2, the Wellington-Hutt main road, and directly across the river from the centre of Lower Hutt. It is also the name of the three-lane bridge connecting the Hutt City central business district with State Highway 2, a route subject to extensive congestion at peak times. Ngauranga railway station is a single island platform railway station in the mainly industrial and commercial suburb of Ngauranga on the Wairarapa Line in Wellington, New Zealand. It is on the Wellington suburban rail network and is served by Melling Line trains and some only Hutt Valley Line trains. Wairarapa Connection trains pass this station but do not stop. All trains are run by Transdev as part of the Metlink network.

Woburn railway station is a suburban railway station serving Woburn and Waiwhetu in Lower Hutt, New Zealand. The station is located on the Hutt Valley section of the Wairarapa Line, 14.4 km (8.9 mi) north of Wellington, and is the junction for the Gracefield Branch to the Hutt Railway Workshops, which diverges eastward from the mainline to the south of the station. Woburn served is by Metlink on behalf of the Greater Wellington Regional Council, with trains stopping at Woburn travelling to Wellington, Taita and Upper Hutt.
