Sir Winston Churchill Secondary School is a Canadian secondary school located in St. Catharines, Ontario. It is one of eight public secondary schools in the city, and is situated in the community of Glenridge. The secondary school is known for their competitive sports, extremely strong academics, arts, their bulldog mascot and extensive list of extracurriculars. It is administered by the District School Board of Niagara.
Sir Winston was founded in 1959. It was named after the British Prime Minister, who led the United Kingdom through the Second World War.
Sir Winston Churchill's Extended French program has been in existence for over 30 years. The school offers the program through grades 9 to 12 to students who participated in Extended French previously in elementary school. Twelve of the forty credits that an Extended French student completes will be taught in French. These are mainly core subjects like French, Math, Science and Social Sciences. [1]

Paul Kenneth Bernardo, also known as Paul Jason Teale, is a Canadian serial rapist and serial killer dubbed the Scarborough Rapist, the Schoolgirl Killer and, together with his former wife Karla Homolka, one of the Ken and Barbie Killers. He is known for initially committing a series of rapes in Scarborough, Ontario, a district of Toronto, between 1987 and 1990, before committing three murders with Homolka; among these victims was Karla's younger sister, Tammy Homolka.
Karla Leanne Homolka, also known as Karla Leanne Teale, Leanne Teale and Leanne Bordelais, is a Canadian serial killer who acted as an accomplice to her husband, Paul Bernardo, taking active part in the rapes and murders of at least three minors in Ontario – including her own sister, Tammy Homolka – between 1990 and 1992.
The murder of Kristen French was a high-profile Canadian kidnapping and murder case which occurred in St. Catharines, Ontario. French, a 15-year-old schoolgirl was abducted by serial killers Paul Bernardo and Karla Homolka on April 16, 1992. French was tortured, raped and finally murdered on April 19, 1992. Her naked body was found in Burlington on April 30, 1992.
Leslie Erin Mahaffy was the second Canadian murder victim of killers Paul Bernardo and Karla Homolka. At the time of her death, she was a resident of Burlington, Ontario, and a Grade 9 student at M.M. Robinson High School.
Tammy Lyn Homolka was a Canadian girl who was killed by her older sister Karla Homolka and Karla's husband Paul Bernardo. On Christmas Eve 1990, shortly before what would have been Tammy's 16th birthday on New Year's Day, Karla and Bernardo plied Tammy with alcoholic drinks laced with the sedative Halcion. When she became unconscious, the two raped her. Tammy became sick while sedated and died. After failed attempts to revive her, Karla covered up evidence of the assault and called an ambulance. Her official cause of death was listed as choking to death on her own vomit, and was believed at the time to have been an accident. After the killers were arrested for the murders of Leslie Mahaffy and Kristen French, Tammy Homolka's body was exhumed. She is interred at Victoria Lawn Cemetery in St. Catharines, Ontario.

Sir Winston Churchill Collegiate & Vocational Institute was a high school in Thunder Bay, Ontario. It was part of the Lakehead District School Board system. The school was opened in 1966 and had between 1,100 and 1,500 students enrolled. While students began attending in the fall of '66 the building wasn't actually ready until just before Christmas of that year. Students enrolled in Sir Winston Churchill attended classes in the morning only at nearby Northwood Technical school while Northwood students attended in the afternoon. The school was commonly referred to by the shorter name of SWC. The school is the only one in the city which at one time had a pool, which was later sold to the city. SWC was known for its academics and sport teams. During their last year of football, the senior boys won city championship.
