Sneha Sreekumar is an Indian actress and dancer who appears in Malayalam films, television serials and dramas. She is best known for playing the character of Mandodari [2] in the TV sitcom Marimayam . She is also a professionally trained dancer with 15 years of experience in dance forms like Mohiniyattam, Kuchipudi, Kathakali, Ottan Thullal, and Bharathanatyam. [3]

Biography

Sneha was born to Sreekumar, who works in the Kerala Water Authority and Girija Devi, who was the principal of a school in Kochi. They are settled in Kumbalam, Ernakulam. She has an elder sister Soumya. [4]

Sneha completed her schooling from St. Antony's Higher Secondary School, Ernakulam and did her graduation in Malayalam from Maharaja's College, Ernakulam. Later, she completed her post-graduation from Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, Kalady in Theatre arts. She also holds a master of philosophy in the performing arts from Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala.[ citation needed ]

She is professionally trained in Kathakali from Kalamandalam E. Vasudevan, Ottan Thullal from Kalamandalam Prabhakaran and Mohiniyattam from Nirmala Panicker. [5]

She started off her career through popular TV series Marimayam playing the role of Mandodari which rose her fame among the Malayali audience. [6] She made her debut with Vallatha Pahayan directed by Niyas Backer and later went on to act in several films and her notable roles include in To Noora with Love , Zachariayude Garbhinikal , Rajamma @ Yahoo , Utopiayile Rajavu , Velipadinte Pusthakam to name a few.

She is also hosted the TV show Loudspeaker.[ citation needed ]

She is the daughter of the legendary Kathakali artist Kalamandalam Krishnan Nair and Mohiniyattam exponent Kalamandalam Kalyanikutty Amma. Kala Vijayan is trained in Mohiniyattam, Bharatanatyam and Kathakali, however she is best known for her contributions to Mohiniyattam. She is the recipient of Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi Award for Mohiniyattam (1998) and the Kerala State Award for Mohiniyattam (2019). She is the Principal Director and senior Guru at Kerala Kalalayam, a fine arts institute established by her parents at Thripunithura in 1952.

Kalamandalam Sugandhi is a Mohiniyattam dancer, choreographer and dance teacher from Kerala, India. She received several awards including Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi Award, Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi Fellowship, Kerala Konkani Sahitya Academy Award and Kerala Kalamandalam Award.

V. K. Hymavathy popularly known as Kalamandalam Hymavathy is a Mohiniyattam dancer and dance teacher from Kerala, India. She received several awards including Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi Gurupooja Award and Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi Award.

Pallavi Krishnan is a leading exponent of the dance form, Mohiniyattam. She received the Sangeet Natak Academi award for 2022 in Mohiniyattam from president Murmu.
