The United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) is one of the six principal organs of the United Nations, responsible for coordinating the economic and social fields of the organization, specifically in regards to the fifteen specialized agencies, the eight functional commissions, and the five regional commissions under its jurisdiction.

Canadore College is a college of applied arts and technology located in North Bay, Ontario, Canada, attended primarily by international students. It was founded in 1967 as a campus of Sudbury's Cambrian College, and became an independent institution in 1972. Canadore College has three campuses in North Bay, Ontario, one campus in Parry Sound, Ontario as well as campuses in Brampton, Mississauga and Scarborough through Canadore-affiliated Stanford International College of Business and Technology. The fraction of students who are international, on a student visa, has grown significantly in the past decade, from 5% in 2012-13, to 72% in 2021-22. In 2024 enrolment remained majority international students from India.
The 1972 Summer Olympics, officially known as the Games of the XX Olympiad, were a summer multi-sport event held in Munich, West Germany, from 26 August through 11 September 1972. 7,134 athletes representing 121 National Olympic Committees (NOCs) participated. The games featured 195 events in 21 sports across 28 disciplines.

The Constitutive Act of the African Union sets out the codified framework under which the African Union is to conduct itself. It was signed on 11 July 2000 at Lomé, Togo. It entered into force after two thirds of the 53 signatory states ratified the convention on 26 May 2001. When a state ratifies the Constitutive Act, it formally becomes a member of the AU. All 55 signatory states have ratified the document, with South Sudan and Morocco ratifying as the last African states.

The Arab Maghreb Union is a political union and economic union trade agreement aiming for economic and future political unity among Arab countries that are located primarily in the Maghreb in North Africa. Its members are the nations of Algeria, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco and Tunisia. The Union has been unable to achieve tangible progress on its goals due to deep economic and political disagreements between Morocco and Algeria regarding, among others, the issue of Western Sahara. No high-level meetings have taken place since 3 July 2008, and commentators regard the Union as largely dormant.
Carmen Maria de Araújo Pereira was a Bissau-Guinean politician. She served three days as Acting President in 1984, becoming the first woman in this role in Africa and the only one in Guinea-Bissau's history. She had the shortest term as the Acting President, serving only three days in office. She died in Bissau on 4 June 2016.
Ismail Ertug is a German politician who served as a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) from Germany from 2009 to 2023. He is a member of the Social Democratic Party of Germany, part of the Party of European Socialists.

Lucky Dissanayake Jayawardana was a Sri Lankan politician who served as a member of parliament of the United National Party from the Kandy District from 1994 to 2004 and from 2015 to 2020. He also served as the minister of city planning, water supply and higher education.

The ISC was formed with its inaugural general assembly on 4 July 2018 by the merger of the former International Council for Science (ICSU) and the International Social Science Council (ISSC), making it one of the largest organisations of this type.

Nkengasong is a Cameroonian-American virologist serving as the Global AIDS Coordinator in the Biden administration since 2022 and Senior Bureau Official for Global Health Security and Diplomacy since 2023. Dr. Nkengasong will resign at the start of the Trump administration in 2025. He previously worked as the Director of the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention from 2016 to 2022, as well as at the World Health Organization (WHO) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Nkengasong was appointed the WHO Special Envoy for Africa.
Rachel Taylor Milton (1901–1995) was an American educator, community activist, and co-founder of the Urban League of Hartford, Connecticut. The first African American woman to graduate from Hartford Seminary, Milton was inducted into the Connecticut Women's Hall of Fame in 1994.
