Soorma Hockey Club is a professional field hockey franchise team based in Punjab and Haryana that competes in the Hockey India League. [1] It is owned by Parth Jindal's JSW Sports. [2] The women's team was the runners-up of the 2025 edition.

Contents

Jeroen Baart is the head coach and Sardar Singh is the mentor of the men's team. Jude Menezes is the head coach and Rani Rampal is the mentor of the women's team. [3]

Ownership

The Soorma Hockey Club is owned by JSW Sports of JSW Group. [4] Parth Jindal is the managing director of the company. They also own other sports franchises such as the Pro Kabaddi League team Haryana Steelers, the Indian Super League team Bengaluru FC, the Indian Premier League team Delhi Capitals, the SA20 team Pretoria Capitals, and the International League team Dubai Capitals. [5]

He was awarded Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award of India, in 2015. On 13 July 2016, the responsibilities of the captain were handed over from him to P. R. Sreejesh, the goalkeeper of Indian Team. On 12 September 2018, Sardara announced his retirement from international hockey. He played 314 matches during 12 years in his career.

Rajinder Singh is an Indian field hockey player from Haryana. He made his senior Indian debut in the two-match series against Germany in October 2024. He plays as a midfielder and is a product of Namdhari Sports Academy. He plays for Haryana in the domestic tournaments and for Hyderabad Toofans in the Hero Hockey India League 2024.

Maninder Singh is an Indian field hockey player from Punjab. He made his senior India debut in the Hero Asia Cup 2022. He is a midfielder but also plays in the forwardline when needed. He plays for Chandigarh team and the Comptroller & Auditor General of India team in the domestic tournaments and for Soorma Hockey Club (Punjab) in the Hero Hockey India League 2024.
