The Surjit Hockey Stadium, also sometimes spelled as Surjeet Hockey Stadium, is a field hockey stadium in Jalandhar, Punjab, India. [1] It is named after Jalandhar-born Olympian Surjit Singh. This stadium is home of the franchise Sher-e-Punjab of the World Series Hockey and Punjab Warriors of Hockey India League. It is established by the members of the Surjit Hockey Society.
Jalandhar is the third most-populous city in the Indian state of Punjab and the largest city in Doaba region. Jalandhar lies alongside the Grand Trunk Road and is a well-connected rail and road junction. Jalandhar is 146 km (91 mi) northwest of the state capital Chandigarh, 83.5 km (51.9 mi) south-east of Amritsar and 61.3 km (38.1 mi) north of Ludhiana. Jalandhar is about 381 km from national capital Delhi. The famous road NH1 crosses from Jalandhar.
Gandhi Stadium or Burlton Park or BS Bedi Stadium is located in the city of Jalandhar, Punjab and is used for cricket matches. As of 19 August 2017 it has hosted 1 Test and 3 ODIs. The stadium should not be confused with the 10,000-capacity Gandhi Stadium in Ambikapur, which is used for cricket and football.

2012 World Series Hockey better known as Bridgestone World Series Hockey, abbreviated as Bridgestone WSH, was the first season of the hockey tournament World Series Hockey, a professional league for field hockey in India. The tournament was to take place from 17 December 2011 to 22 January 2012 but later was postponed to 29 February 2012 owing to Olympic qualifiers. Eight teams took part in this competition. The opening ceremony and the first match was held at Sector 42 Stadium, Chandigarh, where Bhopal Badshahs beat Chandigarh Comets 4–3.

The Surjit Hockey Society is an Indian society established in 1984 after Olympian Sardar Surjit Singh Randhawa. Since its establishment the society has organized the Surjit Memorial Hockey Tournament in Jalandhar every year. The society has the current Chief Minister of Punjab as its Chief Patron. Every year a hockey camp is held in an effort to find talented hockey players from the surrounding areas of Punjab. In 2012, in an effort to revive the sport in the state, Government of Punjab announced its decision to support the society.
